After phoning a Christian radio station too?

Pupil: How do you think I will do in my Bible study exam?
Teacher: You shall not pass!

Cant be bothered to search through the whole thread but has the pointless one been mentioned when the Q was I think, who shot Lee Harvey Oswold in Dallas in 1963?. The contestant gave the answer JR Ewing

I think it has been mentioned but it would be "Who was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald" and not "Who shot Lee Harvey Oswald" if the answer was JFK

That is of course correct but as I recall the answer to the question was JFK. I think the girl on Pointless answered JR (Ewing) as she saw the word Dallas and knew the answer involved initials of some kind

Now I wasn't paying full attention, but on the lottery show yesterday, was the question what fish is used to make Cullen skink to which the contestant answered 'potato'?

Yes, the exact wording was "Assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas" and they were asking for names of historical figures.

I thought that was some odd typo on a tablet until I searched for it.

I saw that. He was a chef/cook, so he took Food & Drink and got about half of them wrong. To be fair that is a tough quiz, not so much in the standard of the questions but the time pressure is relentless. You really have to answer right away, you don't get any time to think. Get a couple in a row wrong and you will see the bar will be getting ever closer to you. If you don't know the answer you basically have to say the first thing that comes into your head. So obviously potato looks a bit silly.

I'm more forgiving of daft answers when there's time pressure. It's when they've got time to think and still say something daft I'm less so.

Incidentally Cullen Skink is a Scottish dish. I'm Scottish and didn't know it was haddock, but then I know next to nothing about Food & Drink and could care even less. It's the world's most boring quiz category in my opinion.

Strangely enough, there actually is a fish called the "Potato cod", though I doubt the contestant would have heard of it!

Brent: Yeah but I was under pressure, the whole quiz situation....
Finchy: NO! NO! just tell them who you said. Who's the Cuban leader?

Brent: Fray Bentos

Posted before maybe on here, but definitely on The Tipping Point thread, but surely worthy of a retelling... A dizzy, blonde, bimbo was asked this...Q: Which Monarch was the Victorian Era named after? A: Pass.. People's stupidity is beyond belief on some of these shows. Why the Hell do they apply to be on quiz shows in the first place if they're so daft?

Because they go on Tipping Point and have a good chance of winning £10,000, they just have to accept they may look stupid in the process but probably neither care about nor realise it.
