You can work it out, but I'd wager a lot of quiz show contestants think only in terms of facts that they've already heard. The number of sides on a cube is a pretty well-known fact, whether you know it from observation or not - as is, say, the total that opposite sides of a die add up to. The number of edges on a cube I'd suggest isn't - I only know it from learning it on "old Fifteen to One" with William G Stewart where that sort of question used to be a staple - so I think a lot of people will panic and just say either anything or else pass.
I know that sounds daft, because you're doing yourself out of a possible point, but I'm just second-guessing thought processes...
