There is always a presumption on popular quizzes that everyone is knowledgeable of football and failure to understand that many have no interest.
![]() The 'failure' here was on the part of the FM who seems to assume that everyone knows the nicknames of West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur football clubs. |

If a general knowledge quiz show ruled out using questions on subjects that many people have no interest in, I'm not sure their would be many subjects left to use.
![]() The 'failure' here was on the part of the FM who seems to assume that everyone knows the nicknames of West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur football clubs. In fact from this list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...United_Kingdom they're all pretty random except for Hammers and Spurs. |

Tonight's University Challenge: Paxo: Give me the name of the Republic whose territory lies within the red outline (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...entered%29.svg)
St Hilda's: Uzbekistan? Paxo: Good heavens, no! St. Anne's: France? Paxo:No, it's Kiribati! |

St Hilda's: Uzbekistan? Paxo: Good heavens, no! St. Anne's: France? Paxo:No, it's Kiribati! France was not a stupid answer is it is a republic which had many overseas territories in the Pacific. It may have only been a slight mishearing of the question to assume that the question related to a former colonial power, though in this case it was the UK rather than France. (But I had to Google to check.) |

My first guess was France as well as it looks like French Polynesia which is part of the French territories (and the wording of the question was like a trap)
but UZBEKISTAN? ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry Adele |

Perhaps the contestant was colour blind and transposed the land/water areas in her mind? She had got a number of difficult questions correct before that so she was no dummy..
Must see if anyone has Tweeted her! |

Recently on Tipping Point:
"In the musical, there were Seven Brides for how many Brothers?" Contestant: "Pass" Even if they'd never heard of it you'd think "seven" would have been a reasonable guess. |

Q: According to Christianity, who was said to have been crucified at Calvary?
A: Joan of Arc. Another gem from Tipping Point. |

Some dumb woman on University Challenge a couple of nights ago thought St Paul's Cathedral had been destroyed by German bombs in the 1940s.

Not strictly a quiz I suppose, but flicking round the
channels today I caught five minutes of so called 'Celebrity Catchphrase' and I have to say that David Haye, Andrea McLean and Louis Walsh, have to be the three thickest/dumbest/most useless 'celebs' I have ever seen taking part in any of these things! |
