He asks interesting moral questions like about waterboarding and about voting and equal rights... You can tell his brain is a click ahead of some of the others in there and it makes a refreshing change from the usual "how pissed have you been?" "have you had a threesome?" "do you like cameltoe?" type shit that contestants usually spout.”

A 19 year old male on such intimate terms with Katy Perry's discography suggests you're possibly right. He knew every single word and didn't care who heard him LOL. Even Aaron struggled with the lyrics and just hummed the last few choruses.

Fyi.
33 yes, male, straight, here.

I know the words to S club 7, Katy Perry, even Taylor bloody swift - certainly hasn't made me start fancying blokes.

just sayin'

No .
I find him dull . He seems to have a constant downbeat, glum expression .

I adore him and Nick

Joel is my favourite and he always has been. I think he's a great HM. I just hope he doesn't turn all evil now.

(This is my first post in the Big Brother forum btw).

It was so deadpan as well, very funny

He's funny, but you can tell he's gonna be a sneaky stirrer

He's a puzzling one. Was it Harry Enfield who had a sketch about 'Odd Kid' who always claimed something like 'When I grow up I want to be.........A tax inspector'.
I could imagine a much younger Joel saying 'When I grow up I want to be a tory politician.'
Other times I look at Joel in the group and I think of Sesame Street's 'One of these kids are doing their own thing ..lah..lah..lah..lah....la..la...lah
There is something comically amusing about his place in that house.

I think he is very funny but also quite intelligent.
He has a very clever head on his shoulders for a guy who is only 19.
I can see him going far but I think his intelligence could be taken up in a different light depending on the situation. sometimes ignorance is bliss.

But then at the end of each clip they look even more complexed and puzzled. It's like they have the weight of the world's problems on their shoulders

I've always liked Joel but after tonight I like him even more, I like a dry sense of humour and his is just brilliant 😃

Really like him.

Thought him astute when he commented that Jade may have been targeting Nick to influence because he nominates face to face and first (other hm's may copy his noms).

Yes since Nick has revealed the extent of his abjectness Joel is now my fave.

I love him! His singing is one of my favourite moments of the series before, totally hilarious. He seems quite innocent but intelligent at the same time. He's being very misunderstood at the minute as I feel like he's trying to get on with everybody in the fairest way possible - he deals well with confrontation and I think he made Jade look like an idiot when she aggressively confronted him in the bathroom.

No. Sanctiminious little pipsqueak. I've met livilier, funnier pensioners.

Joel is becoming ng my favourite. He is clearly more intelligent than most in there. He is very young and is, I think, coping very well in quite a toxic atmosphere. Loved his singing and his refusal to be intimidated by jade. I like nick too but he has reacted very differently to Joel. He is letting his bb experience be defined by everyone else. Joel is strong enough to be himself.

Agree with the above. He is by far the most interesting hm in there IMO.

Yeah, I find him very funny. Partly his matter-of-fact way of delivering stuff - 'give yourself Christmas off', 'what do we all think about water boarding?' Etc.

I don't think he's fake at all and is a lovely chap.
