Does anyone find Jade's accent changes in DR ?

Does anyone here think that Jade strengthens her accent in the DR?

It seems to ( IMO) change a bit when she is alone in the DR as opposed to when she speaks to HMs?

Maybe to pull in the Irish votes???

Any views on this ??

Can Irish viewers (or anyone outside UK) even vote?

Will they only vote if the accent is a certain minimum strength?

I don't think anyone from Ireland can vote.

She definitely hams up the accent. She puts on a broader Dublin accent. It's like she's on the set of 'The Commitments'

Hmm may be but saying that shes not the first or last person who has changed the way they speak or act in one way or another. While being in the diary room.
I'm sure if i thought about this some more theres a few who do that this series alone.

No. It's not her doing it for camera, unlike other housemates (Cristian the poshboy pretending to be 'street', and 'Arriet the Dickensian charlady).
This is more a case of Jade sometimes softening her accent when with the other housemates in order to be understood better.
In the diary room it is just her on her own talking to a microphone so she has no feedback as to whether she is being misunderstood so speaks as she would if at home (Irish slang words included).

She puts on a baby voice when making certain comments alright, if that's what you mean.

She seems to talk quite Dublin in the house to me. She only changes it in the DR when she's taking the piss.

Yes I would agree with this. And add to this the fact that one or two of the Big Brother voices in the Diary Room have Irish accents, so perhaps she feels more at ease using a less softened accent when talking to them.

The baby voice and coquettish behavior came on stronger after noms but I meant just when she talks about "tings " in the house

I read on another forum that Jade has a south Dublin working class accent, is that true? Can any Irish viewers chime in?

I also read that Hazel had a much more high-class north Dublin accent and that her & Jade's accents were nowhere near comparable.

That too.

Cristian and 'Arriet's accents are for the benefit of the other housemates, and are how they want to be portrayed. Cristian slips into poshboy a lot though and 'Arriet frequently slips into Dick Van Dyke/Mary Poppins territory when trying to show how working class she is.

Like Melax said i think it's more to do with her softening her Accent when talking to the H/MS to be better understood ,then reverts to her Normal way of talking when in the Diary room

I think she's from west of the city, but she talks like she's from north inner city Dublin. I would've thought she would have a softer accent from where she's from, someone mentioned Castleknock before.

I do it all the time when speaking to anyone not from Ireland, it can a hard accent to understand especially from certain regions.
