Was released at the weekend. Was 19.0. I have no idea what it's for as nothing has changed...

I am guessing that it might be an update for Wifi Calling or VoLTE which is due to be launch this summer.

Only thing I have noticed changing is instead of the 4g on/off toggle in Settings > Mobile, I get a Voice & Data option allowing me to choose 4,3 or 2g.

My understanding is the carrier update to 19.1 on vodafone is to make 2600mhz the priority frequency for 4G when available.

This ties into infor i was given a few weeks back that Vodafone were going to be turning on 2600 in a number of towns and cities I know they have been busy doing lots of upgrade work to enable this.

However as i posted earlier this week Vodafone are due to start staff trials on VOLTE this week so update could be related to that.

Uno, the phone gets reselection priority info from the network. Phones select 2600 just fine when it's available as (on Vodafone) 2600 is set to priority 6, and 800 is set to 5 (scale is 0-7 where 7 is the highest). I have a Voda sim in a 5S and it's never had a problem using 2600 in London (likewise other phones when I've swapped sims around). No problem with EE's 2600 either (which is set to 7 with 1800 on 6).

Just because I'm interested in how Voda are deploying it. Do you know how the TDD spectrum will be set priority wise?

Depends what they use it for (as yet, in Canary Wharf in London, even though it's still there regular punters can't connect to it) but I would expect initially at least for it to be above 2600FDD. Maybe that is why Voda have left space at the top? A lot of phones won't be able to use it so you might as well push phones that can on to it.

Thanks Japaul well it is likely to be to with the VOLTE trials that started on Monday then.

I was pleased to see that they have turned on some 2600mhz in Leicester this week but even though coming from the same masts as 800mhz it will not allow carrier aggregation yet this on an S6

Are Vod going to beat EE to VoLTE then?
I bet they're working their backsides off to get that one!
It'll be like AMD beating Intel to 1Ghz all over again.

Yes I saw that in London when 2600 sites went live. Often the sites would have 800 and 2600 running standalone without aggregation. Only later did they start to aggregate the frequencies.
