Well, they're both up now so i expect Emma on Friday night to say there is a huge twist coming up ( obviously we won't be told what the twist is though, we need to wait and see who is evicted first before we find out what twist they will do ) and if Danny or Sarah are evicted the twist will be that Danny and Sarah are going into a secret room

I disagree that the people that moan are usually just the fans of the person that was evicted. There are usually a handful of housemates that you like. If one goes, it sucks, but there are others in there to hold your interest typically. The British public are consistent in their short-sighted voting, and love to vote out the big and interesting characters, leaving us with a house full of bores. I don't even like Jade. I don't dislike her. I have seen the treatment that she has gotten. But I wouldn't say I like her. She is entertaining. Therefore I want for her to stay.

It isn't like the viewers don't have ANY input at all. Nothing is fixed, essentially. It is not like we are in the later stages of the game either. The viewers will still get to vote and evict someone on Friday. It is not as if the power has been taken completely from the viewers, even though I would not mind if that was the case.

And how did you react when Ashleigh was put up in a similar way last year? I don't remember you complaining at the time. Weren't you telling Ashleigh fans to get over it?

No, i said people take what the housemates say or do too seriously, not the actual show. Of course people are going to take the actual show seriously, they are using their money to vote people out.

Okay, though I thought you said something earlier like you'd be a fool to vote or something, so I assumed you don't vote.

No, i said it was wrong but the Ashleigh fans can't complain now when they refused to complain about other things. Like when Marlon was unfairly evicted or when Ashleigh was given the role as power HM unfairly.

The latest "twist" has saved every HM that was nominated and everyone that recieved the fewest noms are now up. They have fixed it to save the biggest characters from going. They knew Jade was going to go if she was up, it wouldn't have even been close, but because they want arguments, they fixed it so she would stay.

It would have been more acceptable if they had told us they were doing this before nominations took place. But let's be honest, we all know that this wasn't even planned before nominations took place, this was planned when they realised who was up for eviction.

The thing that has annoyed me more than anything about this twist is the fans reaction to it, especially on here. People on here have been moaning and groaning for years for the way BB is being handled on Channel 5, but the majority think that this "twist" is good. These same people moaned last year because BB let Helen get away with everything and made sure she got to the final, these same people moaned because Ashleigh was apparently being unfairly treated. The fans are almost as bad as the people in charge of this show. They are fine with any fix that takes place as long as it doesn't have a negative impact on their favourites or what they consider to be big characters. It's hypocritical and it says to the producers that they should never listen to any complaints the fans have of the show. Why bother listening to the fans when they are so hypocritical ?

Rant over.”

I agree and it seems from what I'm reading Jade is this years forum favourite. If you dare criticise her (let's be fair there's plenty to criticise) you are told you are OTT demonising her, even if that is not the case. Some are even calling her the underdog??
Seems like the producers have looked on here and don't want to alienate all her fans.

Yeah we get to vote, but it's up to BB who goes really. They may as well scrap nominations, it's no longer up to the HM's who should actually face the public vote. They can vote, but if the people in chargoe of the show ain't happy with the HM's decision, they won't allow those people to face eviction. That is a fix.

If they had left things as they were we would have an entirely predictable eviction with Jade going. Instead the producers have decided to save a house mate that is creating division and tension and get rid of one of the boring do-gooders inside.

Not really. Ultimately, we decide who the winner is going to be. regardless of who goes up each week. It is up to the HM's who faces the public vote. These twists don't happen as often as the HM's nomination process going off without a hitch, and the people who were nominated facing the public vote. So I wouldn't say that it is no longer up to the HM's. This is a one off in a sea of HM choosing who faces the public vote going off without a hitch.

I disagree with your last sentence. We have seen big characters go before. More times than BB has not allowed them to face the public vote.

Harriet is likeliest to go - she is hardly a boring do-gooder.

I never thought they had it right this year. But look what happened when Simon was evicted without a public eviction vote. That's like one of the most outrageous things done in bb15, but because it got rid of the intensely irritating Simon, almost no one seemed to mind. If it had eliminated one of the HMs who were popular at the time, the forum would have 'gone into meltdown'.

I didn't like that twist even though I couldn't stand Simon, and I didn't like BB having face-to-face noms again, or showing the nomination sessions to the house, or having a twist that could affect the prize, or BB putting anyone with only two nominations up, or other things I can't even remember right now; and I don't think this twist should be part of bb16 either.

But it does not ruin the series for me. Far from it.

They also fixed it so Eileen would stay.

That sort of thing cuts both ways, though. How can the people who didn't mind what happened to Simon complain about this twist? That's hypocrisy too.

It's been like this for years. The complaints about a twist are mostly from people who don't like what it means for their favourites or big characters, while there's a tendency for people who like the effects not to mind. I didn't see loads of Gina and Dexter fans complaining about things BB did that favoured them. Or loads of "outsider" fans complaining about things that benefited those HMs. It was mostly people who liked Aaron who minded the Crypt twist in bb12, and people who couldn't stand Josie or who thought Sam Pepper was the saviour of the show who minded the 4-HM eviction at the end of bb7, when that wasn't even a twist. The examples go on and on. There's even hypocrisy in many of the complaints about hypocrisy.

The show's long lost any credibility it once had, which is, as you say, why people gave up on it. which makes me question why any long-standing fan still watching it would get worked up by this twist.

Yes, it's unfair, yes it subverts what we like to think what BB stands for, but then this kind of thing has been the norm since the move to C5 (not to say things were always straight and fair on C4), whether it be noms twists, immunity, or gross manipulation of scenarios and viewers.

Is it fair that BB chooses what counts as noms talk to engineer a situation, or decides off-hand to shows DR noms, or tells the HMs what the public think of them, or edits situations to create a deliberately misleading narrative? All of these things impact on who gets nommed, and who gets evicted, yet we obviously accept this, don't we, this overt manipulation? Or is this twist, for some reason, set apart from hundreds of examples of blatant interference from BB?

I was always a BB purist who loved the ideal of minimal intervention, even if it was never more than an ideal. A few years ago, as the interference became more obvious and frequent, I did get would up, and almost gave up completely on it. Even now, I watch it with a different perspective, accepting that we're not watching anything resembling a fair fight.

If I was really outraged by BB meddling, I'd have packed it in long ago, like those fans you mention.

And that's the whole point. There is no game, no game show, no rules and no longer even any attempt to cover up the incessant manipulations.

"You decide", the catchphrase that the whole Big Brother concept is based around, is utterly redundant. No-one decides. Not the viewers. Not even the contestants. All decisions are taken by the producers, arbitrarily, unashamedly weighting what is essentially a phone-in competition in favour of their preferred outcome.

It's little wonder that viewers are increasingly giving up on Big Brother when the people running the show appear to have given up on it too.

(I don't have a horse in the race and couldn't care less who gets evicted, for the record)

"You decide" is about the public eviction vote.

We will still have one this week, and the votes will indeed decide who goes.

Those producers certainly are making a mockery of the nomination process plus the HMs can no longer say anything in confidence in the DR because they show so many DR conversations .

At least a vile prossie with a vile mouth isnt going to walk away with the dosh and winner of BB over a decent and well brought up HM who really played the game and was more deserving. All the prossie did was bully people and should have been dumped out on her prossie backside numerous times.

Only in a pedantic sense, as they have demonstrated that they don't trust the public to vote in accordance with the result they're looking for and will bend over backwards to deny them the opportunity to do so.
