How many god dam times have I heard this in soaps, It's miraculous that people in soaps get same day appointments for important things that take weeks in real life. I thought soaps are suppose to have a bit of reality to them. But am getting bored of every soap using "there's been a cancellation" could at least make them wait a few more episodes or something.

Haha I thought that once.
I suppose they do it to keep the storyline moving quickly.
I do get annoyed when someone gets diagnosed with cancer and then dies a few weeks later. Illnesses in soaps are always unrealistic!

What about 20 minute labour and births? Women keel over suddenly and say the baby's coming then there's ooh aah panting and 15 minutes later a perfectly clean baby arrives wrapped in a handy shawl or towel. They rarely give birth in a hospital. It's usually in one of the businesses on the Square or Street or somewhere other than the hospital. Yes it can happen that you give birth at home and some people choose to but soap births are rarely realistic.
