Big Brother is unrecognisable and you're putting the final nails in its coffin. Taking over the show you had the opportunity to revitalise it whereas all you've done is further it into cheap depravity.

With the news of this new 'timebomb' all you've done is confirm what us die hard fans have known for years. Big Brother is dead. Change the name if you're going to change the format. Don't pretend it's the show it once was.

The sad thing is, this year was actually looking quite promising

I've accepted it and now watch without the same commitment that I used to have. It's the only thing to do as this imposter of a show bears little or no realation to the original concept.

I am enjoying it and the tasks have been really demanding.

People always moan in the second week and say that they are not going to watch any more. But they mostly do.

I misread it as Des O'Connor. Was getting ready to defend the old man.

It seems they have taken a chance and put in more housemates who are regular people, rather than the showbiz-ready wannabes, which is what the research suggested that the audience wants. But this crop could have been brought in from the street at random, they don't have a lot going for them, so you can see why they are having a massive clear out of the no-hopers. They really aren't up to scratch.


I never like new housemates, though. They always seem to pick real 'out there' characters who are way over the top and just add a lot of CRINGE to the proceedings. I couldn't bear that stripper they brought in last year, talk about crass. At that point I start losing the will to live.

They never gel well with the original housemates, so unless they pick intelligently in the beginning, the show is pretty well doomed.

The relentless twisting is just frustrating after a while. What is this show about if not watching relationships unfold, but they are never allowed to develop them without cruelty being inflicted to set them against each other. I'm really struggling to care about these housemates, or indeed bother to watch the show, for that reason.

They used to be able to find a balance between mixing it up and letting things play out, but they seem to have lost that touch and now it just feels manufactured to the point of pointlessness.

Why not just line them up and poke them with sticks until they all get peed off and leave?

I think I have the right to moan when nominations are completely disregard and for absolutely no reason whatsoever flipped on their heads just to suit the producers agendas. 4 in, 4 out is a good twist. Under these circumstances however, it's fixed

The problem is that we had the usual second week moaning, which the production team reacting to by completely freaking out and ruining any chance of things developing naturally.

Even if the 4 new HMs are great (and if they were, why weren't they in originally), there will be an uncomfortable divide between them and the old cast that we always get.

I'm sorry but how can anyone who sat through last years manipulated abortion of a show be saying this as a shock now?

BB of the past is long dead, it has been for several years. This is no shock, no surprise and I can't see why people are aghast at the twist

Get over it. It's a game show for crying out loud, they can change it however they like.

As I've said earlier in this series, you have to take Big Brother as a pinch of salt, and accept it isn't what it was back when reality TV was fresh. Now a days reality TV has gone down a more structured route, with a lot of editing. If you just watch for the entertainment it is, and keep the reality as we older ones know it, out of it. It's a lot more easier to digest, I've never seen Geordie shore or the Essex stuff, but I did watch the Hills. I just now see most supposed reality TV, as a loosely structured format.
No amount of arguing will change any production companies mind, it's not a fresh format anymore, and the younger generation are now used to this more action every scene stuff.

So if the producers do as the research suggests they will fill the house with geordieshore/towie ott showbiz wannabees.

But then we dont watch it 24/7 - this years house may have been in reality so dull that the editors were struggling to get an hours highlights.
Now all ive got to look forward to is seeing what mindless celebs theyve roped in for bbbots on friday to declare that this twist is the greatest thing ever in the history of humanity.

I suppose it depends if you feel like as a viewer you want to have some say in what happens. As in, who do you want to stay, leave and win?

These free polls are just giving them ammunition for manipulation.

The classic 'Big Brother' died on CH4, this series at least has shown some glimmer of the old days.

This cast was the best and most promising in years and they're already freaking out and chucking out half due to a slight dip in ratings, not even giving a damn blink of the eye chance for things to develop. **** Dennis O'Conner!

Of course you do but not everyone agrees with you and moaning is always non-productive.

They should stop watching to protective their sensitive natures.

That seems like an odd concept to me. Why should you, as a viewer, have say in what happens? Millions of TV programmes are made around the world without consultation with the viewers - apart from focus groups prior to airing. People are way too invested in some sense of 'ownership' of TV shows these days. They're a form of entertainment. If you like the way it's going - watch. If you don't - don't.

I actually stopped watching after a while when Conor was given the money, I was so cross. Then I realised it matters not one whit in my life, really. I enjoy Big Brother. As someone said earlier, it has changed utterly over recent years - especially since the move to Ch5. Either watch it for what it now is or stop. The only way you can have an impact of any sort is by voting. I don't vote.

That is the basis of the point I am making. Originally the viewers did have a say, along with the HMs.Now it seems like the producers ultimately call all the shots. So even when you vote, if you do, it's often based on their manipulation of the HMs' nominations.

So if it's a case of "watch it as it is, or don't", then perhaps it should be a case of either give the viewers a choice, or don't, and remove the public vote?

Which is what other BBs don't have anyway.

It seems to me producers are sitting on the fence.
