Glastonbury festival - What will data be like with Three?
Hi there,
I've had a check on the map and it looks like it's covered ok with 3G, but I was wondering if anyone had experience the last couple of years to what the data speeds are like? Do they add extra masts when the festival is on, or does it just grind to a halt over the few days? Cheers Mark. |

It'll be pretty useless.
Been to Glasto the past 2 years and it seems the network can't cope with the amount of people on site, I rarely had any data connection anywhere unless it was stupid o' clock in the morning or if I was hooked up to the wifi in the EE tent, and sometimes calling just failed outright, even though I supposedly had full reception. I carried a 2G payg phone with me with an EE sim card in and that worked fine for calls and texts, so they must plaster the site with a load of COWs. It would be interesting to know if 3 have such an arrangement to bring extra transmitters on board. tldr; bring an second phone on EE. |

I went last year and my three iphone was useless.....tethered my friends EE phone to it and it worked fine, albeit slow.

Get one of the free EE 100GB SIMS as a backup (or as primary)

Don't take your smartphone to Glastonbury if you value it. Buy a ten quid talk and text jobbie and enjoy the music instead.

How embarrassing would it be to take a selfie with your Nokia 105? If people can't facebook or twitter about it, then it's not worth going to it seems. |

So do ee put alot more resources in to Glastonbury and similar events or do they have to bid/win some sort of concession to be main site network provider?
How do the other 2 stack up at Glastonbury? Sad to hear three is so useless, lack of interest in events like this or investment or a victim of there success amoung what you might think to be there target age group? I doubt Facebook or Twitter will be the main cause of congestion, it's all about instagram and snapchat with the kids now, when there not doing that it's facetime or Skype. snap chat is a real data munched with all the video clips and pics.. |

Found 3g on Three to be completely saturated for data other than in the early hours or early morning. Took an ee 4g sim last year and 3g was similarly saturated, but 4g worked quite well near the main stages, so I'm going to put a tenner on an ee sim as a backup again.
But like others say, don't just sit there on twitter constantly, get a basic phone and enjoy the music |

Thanks for the replies.
I must admit that I don't spend all my time on the phone, but would be nice to have fairly decent data speeds. I don't do Twitter or Facebook, but sometimes post the odd picture on Instagram. Just wondering how long the 100gb data deal is on and if I can put the first £10 on at Glastonbury if I find Three too slow and still get the 100gb? Cheers Mark. |
