Tastes differ. I cringe every time Carmel comes on screen, and Kush is almost as bad. I hope Masood stays - he's a really strong character, with the acting skills to cope with the antics imposed by the scripting. When they decide he should do something complately out of character he can make it seem quite convincing.
They could bring back his brother, with a new partner. Who could then fall for Masood... Build up a suitably warring family from that.

BIB Me too.
I'd love there to be a way for Masood to stay but he has become no more than an extra..

The actress playing Shabnam has messed this up. Kush is left floundering along with Masood. They must want to do more with this family otherwise he'd have gone off to the other side of London with her. Her going has led to the awful Kush is the Daddy storyline and the loss of Jade who was a cohesive element in the Shirley / Buster relationship. Shabnam was set up as a key character and her loss is being felt. Masood can survive he needs to be part another family. Hence bringing in Carmel/Kush family.

But they are so dull. They won't do anthing to make Masood more interesting. We'll just end up with another pointless family IMO.

I didn't mind him, in fact if they had actually used him he would probably have been a good character. I think there is a strong resemblance between the actor who played him and Nitin, they could easily have been brothers.
Masood and Fatima would be an interesting pairing, especially if they could bring AJ back to Walford. Fatima and Masood were close to flirting last time she was around.
There are all kinds of ways they could build up the broader family. Shabnam can always be recast if they want to bring the character back.
Masood is, I think, the best male actor in Eastenders by some way, and they'd be mad to lose him, if he wants to stay.
Auntie Fatima was one of the best recurring characters last year. As much as I love Zainab, Fatima's character was so different. Her calmness made her really likeable. It would be fantastic if they could make her a regular character, but from what I've read the actress seems to be very busy with other commitments. She's a writer and works for a company and splits her time in India too where she's originally from.
They could otherwise cast her kids, Ali and Jamila (Masood's nephew and niece). That would work if they bring in good actors. I mean after Dean and Carly left, they had Shirley's niece Zsa Zsa arrive.
Shakil has been a huge flop so far and I don't think much thought was given to his casting. I like Carmel and Kush and would like them to stay but I would axe Shakil.
Darius and his wife should be brought in.
Carmel herself needs to get together with Masood because he is a lone wolf character now.
As far as soap families go, all three of them look completely disimilar to one another and there is no naturally chemistry between them which makes them even more jarring as an alleged family.
