This is a nice video.
Il Volo at Barnes & Noble

There's also a lot of Il Volo funny moments if you search youtube, of course they pretty much always involve Ignazio
Here's one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBa_X7hhpI0

Sanremo Performance.
And of course the official video.

...I prefer the Sanremo performance because of the 45 seconds or so they had to cut for the eurovision.
Thank you for the link - yeah I prefer the full version of the song as well. But the Eurovision performance was incredible

I still can't get over that performance as it was just incredible. I really hope they keep their promise and focus on Europe. Just sad that the UK doesn't appreciate this type of music.

Best Eurovision performance for a long time in my opinion, and I say that as a big Eurovision fan.

I think there is some market for classical crossover type acts but its quite niche in the UK, and acts like Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins and even Josh Groban have it sewn up. Il Volo could probably do ok with the right promotion, but I can understand why they're targeting other countries first.

They were talking about their life how it's changed, how it's come about what they were like as kids, their home towns and so forth.

Around 7 minutes into the video they were thanking their families, friends and some of the presenters of "ti lascio una canzone", the TV show that discovered them.

In pretty much al the interviews they do they thank their families, Piero always mentions his grandad as having been the one who discovered his voice and that he wanted to perform for him.
The second gentleman who stands up was Piero's grandad who is blind.

Gianluca then got all emotional and went into the crowd hugging his own grandad and asking the audience to applaud all grandads because they are the best thing in the world.

Part of me thinks it could be territorial, Il Volo I think would grab a pretty decent slice of that niche market in the UK, they are young, fresh and very talented.

Artists like Il Divo are owned by Simon Cowell who has a lot of influence (far to much) and seeing Il Volo grab a slice of his pie is not in his best interest.

I feel it is why they entered both Sanremo and Eurovision, to circumvent publicity obstacles.
In Italy for example there are still radio stations that refuse to play them and media that's constantly on their back.

Hopefully I'm wrong as it would be nice to see them over here.
I think the problem they've really got now is where to go next because they appear to literally have the whole world to choose from...

Thanks Dia! Do you speak Italian? I love that they always talk about their family, it makes them grounded and truly love what they do.

Our resident Il Volo translator now! When they speak can you pick up their regional accents? Not that I know where in Italy they are from. :P

I can translate pretty well, my Italian is a little rusty as it's not often I use it but can still speak it reasonably fluent, though I probably understand it considerably better than I currently speak it.
I used to visit Italy frequently and it would come back to me very quickly, I'd be a native within a week or two

I can't tell that they have any particular accent, they sound to me like they are speaking normal Italian. I haven't really got any experience in Italian accents, I've always pretty much understood someone talking Italian and never really detected differences.

They are definitely there because I do detect people shortening words and so forth but I don't pick it up as an accent.

I reckon I have listened to that track probably around 10 times just today
Another I've listened to probably 5 or 6 times just today is El Triste

When I first heard their Sanremo tribute album, I wasn't sure, it is different to what they had done up to then though not hugely.
It has grown on me hugely, tracks like L'immensità is now one of my favourites of all their songs!
Even though the songs are oldish to very old, they have modernised the music making it even dramatic in places which is something I really like in my music.
Then there's the vocals. As lyrical singers it takes time and age to develop and although they were already exceptional vocalists, their voices are still maturing and getting better.
It's almost like listening to two pieces of beautiful music for the price of one, the music itself being one and their voices being the other.

The official ticket link as found on their facebook site is www.ticketone.it which is in Italian.
Found this site which sells tickets and is in English and shows where you would be seated depending on ticket purchased.

Other than that I'm not really sure, I'm not a concert person, In fact I've never been to one I love my music but just never done concerts.

I hope you realise we expect a full report when you come back if you manage to go.

I have posted under all the Il Volo youtube videos in my playlist, details of this appreciation thread
Hopefully we'll get some more fans discussing everything Il Volo.

I love reading the comments under their youtube videaos, a lot of very very high praise.

I had the honour of seeing Il Volo in Vienna twice, once at the eurovision village and of course on the eurovision stage itself.
Piero just had a look of amazement on his face the entire time, constantly looking around him as if he couldn't believe where he was and wanted to soak it all in.....it was too cute.

I've never had the fortune of seeing them live, If I'm honest I'm not a concert person In fact never been to any
I do like my music though and have been a big fan of Il Volo for at least 2 years now. Very talented individuals, very down to earth, charming and entertainingly funny

I appreciate their music is not to everyone's taste, but what they do, they do exceptionally well.

I've seen Piero do that a lot in the videos, it's like he can't believe he's achieved what he's achieved and that there are a lot fans out there that really appreciate him. He's very endearing, they all are really and I think it's a big part of their success

This is a nice video, a fan got all emotional at the end when she got a hug from Ignazio.

This one also shows their fun side.
