I think she's done this before, but more generally, it's great that the writers are giving Kim and Vincent a more authentic portrayal of a mid 30s black couple. Some of the jargon and slang they eluded too was very realistic, it just hones in on Julia Smith's vision for the show as EE co-creator and original executive producer "we don't make life, we reflect it"

Not that it's a good thing but you'll hear worse at any bus stop at school home time

This was nothing. Nancy used "bastard" the other day.

It's not a bad thing, the occasional mild expletive - just makes it more realistic. A bit like Brookside in its early days.

As dd68 said, you hear a lot worse in real life!

That's nothing, when he found out about Kat's affair Alfie used the word 'shagging' when he asked the Banging Brothers which one of them she had been 'at it' with!

Exactly! Why swearing in the watershed is ridiculous - a child can't be protected from hearing it in the real world and it brings down the realism of many TV shows.

The whole thing (Alfie finding out about Kat's affair) had me gob-smacked, especially when:

Alfie marched Kat through the Vic in front of everyone and threw her bodily out of the door

Alfie said the word 'shagging'

Alfie shouted 'gerrout of me pub' to everyone and shouted at Roxy to go upstairs.

Alfie punched Derek

Alfie grabbed Kat by the scruff of her neck and shoved her up against the wall outside Derek's flat and demanded to know who her lover was

Shane was so good in those scenes!
