That's not quite right.
Aaron was in the DR for quite a while. Since we don't know for how long, we already don't know how long after the incident it was when he came out and apologised. We then see Joel at the far end of the bedroom in his dressing gown. Then there's a scene change where we just see one of the BB cameras; Marcus says "Joel is in the Diary Room"; and we then see Joel in the DR but not wearing his dressing gown. So it is not clear how much time had passed then either.
In any case, the point remains: when Joel was in the DR, he was not trying to think with Aaron flashing at him.
I'm not saying Joel did want to get Aaron thrown out, and of course it was BB's decision, not Joel's. But it is possible that Joel knew or suspected that what he said in the DR could affect BB's decision and that he said what he did because he thought it would at least make it more likely that Aaron would be removed, rather than because it's how he actually felt.
In the end, there isn't any proof either way, and we're not mind readers; so we have to try to figure things out as best we can, based on the limited information available. Different people can legitimately reach different conclusions.
