There were far too many unrealistic scenes in the Corrie fire

I enjoyed Corrie this week (take a bow Alison King, David Neilson, Sally Ann Matthews etc.) but some of the stuff that should have been dramatic was hilarious and some of it was embarrassingly bad.

Kal and Leanne being shoehorned into the story line made me laugh. They didn't cough once even though they were trapped in a flat which was on fire. Everyone in my house had a good laugh watching those scenes.

Liz's reaction to Amy being trapped was frankly embarrassing to watch. She was more bothered about hassling Carla who seemed to be the only one suffering from smoke inhalation.

Liz even enjoyed saying "Amy is in there".

Saint Leanne deciding to stop halfway down the ladder for a chat; meaning Kal wouldn't get out in time, was just bizarre. Much like her deciding to attempt to break a door down instead of calling 999 and shouting for help.

Finally, the fire engine taking so long to arrive. Bad representation.

Carla's posh flat...no smoke alarm....sleeping on the sofa next to the fire...did not smell smoke.....fire engine stuck in traffic....they would of sent many fire engines..other routes...no other residents appearing in the other flats...oh...the list is endless...but it is a soap opera......

Exactly the fire was massive so more than one fire engine would've been en route to the scene and via different routes as a precautionary measure.

Flying head first onto concrete would do a lot of damage.

Definitely! Carla was virtually dead from about 5 mins of smoke inhalation at the start of the fire. Leanne and Kai were in there for ages with barely a cough! ..... It was like back draft with no breathing apparatus

why did Kal re-enter the flat instead of climbing down the ladder after leanne?. he mostly likely would have been caught by tim and kevin down below?

Ikr the explosion might have thrown him off the ladder and killed him anyway but he had better chances there than walking back towards the flat

With all the booze she had been drinking..she was lucky that she didn't explode like the gas cylinder..

or with his army training surely he could have scurried down the front of the building via a drainpipe or something?

I also thought the lack of appearance or concern by the characters for the other occupants of Victoria Court (bar Nick) was very unrealistic

If Carla's flat 12 and Nick is another one - where are all the other 10 residents?
Weatherfield's a strange community - nobody talks to those people we saw briefly in dressing gowns or running downstairs for the rest of the year!

Carla had inhaled the smoke while she was sleeping though so the way she was struggling to breathe and move when she finally woke up was absolutely spot on as far as I'm concerned. They all should have been in the state that she was in (or worse), not having long conversations without any breathing problems

Saint Leanne and Kal didn't even try to clear their throats; they just had an "I'm in pain" expression on their faces. I found it hilarious

and a tasteful bit of smudge on their faces - like a Max Factor new-season kohl make up range!

Maybe they are the normal people in Weatherfield. Like you or I who DONT go to the pub every night of the week and who DONT work within 100 yards of our front doors and who DONT live in the pockets of our neighbours, knowing everything about them and having our lives intertwined with them.

Maybe a programme about these people would be interesting. Maybe with occasional nods to the nut job neighbours in the background.

Actually there was a scene where the other residents were seen running down the stairs. I think Zeedan was one who was there, who was told to leave by one resident.

I know it was supposed to be a tragic accident, but honestly it looked like that guy Kal purposely walked back into the flat, knowing it would kill him. If people were holding the ladder down below, why didn't he get onto it when Leanne was on it? Two people can climb on big ladders, can't they?
