Good question. I've been using it on WiFi but would like to know as well.

I find it hard to believe that using a simple search engine you couldn't answer this yourself...in a few seconds?

Using your words "How much data will periscope use" I found the answer in less than a few seconds....rather quicker than the hours, or in some cases, days that you waited.

Here you go. I've done the work for you! You can thank me later. /rolleyes/

Could you post some other search results you found as well to compare them please.

Hey wise guy. That article was posted on 31/03/2015 before the Android version was released and even then the Android version has had at least 3 updates which may have changed things so wind your neck in and if you've got nothing sensible to contribute then go away.

Also bear in mind that Periscope says 250Mb an hour but you're only likely to be watching/broadcasting a stream for a few minutes. Unless suddenly you're Stephen Spielberg.

Nope. I've read, and re-read the OP, and forgive me for being dumb, but I missed "mind reading classes" at school...but NOWHERE in the OP is the question OS specific. And neither is YOUR response to the OP OS specific.

So my response, a response I went out of my way to get for this thread, still stands!

But, you're welcome anyway.

The OS is irrelevant. In all cases Periscope is an imature just released product so an article more than 2 months old is of almost no use when data usage is going to be high on list of development priorities.

My response to you was for the patronising way you posted in the first place and indeed how that continued in your response above.

I love DS. Yes, it was a rather rude reply. But yes, it was an easily Googled question.

Which makes both of you somehow in the "wrong" if you're going to be an arse about it, and neither of you with any need to be unpleasant.

Of course, if you're using Periscope it's pretty easy to see how much data it uses. Especially on Android on the data network, where you can go to the data menu and it'll tell you.

Aside from the fact that one of America's top racing drivers shared a Periscope of him answering questions and playing pool at home for 2 hours the other night, so it is possible for Periscope to be used for much longer videos, so worth knowing how much data it uses.

The same racing driver shared a bunch of videos of him riding roller coasters yesterday, which must have been 30 mins worth in total, and another driver did a Periscope of a live dirt track race he was at.

Periscope can be used in a different way to, say, Vine, and it does have the potential to use a lot of data, which is important to know if you don't have an unlimited cellular or wi-fi plan.

Thats a quick change of attitude

So its gone from "Thats the wrong OS" to "OS is irrelelvant" and unless I am mistaken you have absolutely no idea of the development priorities. I would guess data is a lot lower a prioirty than you do.

Thanks for your valuable input. I don't know how I would have slept tonight without it.

Again, you're more than welcome for my valued input in finding the answer you were looking [originally] for.

WOW, I even gone and helped you out again, as you've not bothered to find the info for yourself or to share for others.

And this is for the ANDROID version.
This report is much much more up to date...especially for you.

No need to thank me.

It's a wonder your head doesn't explode with all that knowledge and patronising. I'm so in awe that you're such a genius with a computer.

Hang on, you are disagreeing with an answer because of something (data rate changing with new version of the app) That MAY be true. You present no evidence to say why you believe that to be true. Surely the point of a broadcast / multi cast stream is that its client independent?

You're right that I don't know that to be the case but looking at the latest Android change log, one of the entries is "This release may also include traces of video improvements and stability". Again that isn't conclusive and may not be down to data but the fact they are still tinkering with the basics means that an article published well over 2 months ago is surely going to be well out of date.

Isn't conclusive? Video is what you see and hear on the screen. How it gets to you is a different matter and is what affects data rate.

It's never a good idea to draw conclusions based on guesswork. If you don't understand something or lack knowledge of it then its pointless drawing conclusions and doubly pointless arguing over them.

Fair better to do research: learning how to evaluate the results of a search and critically test any hypothesis you make.

Anyway, if you do have a Android phone then look in Settings under Data Usage. You'll soon see how much is actually being used.
