Chris Simmons played Mickey Webb in The Bill and he's been circling around the soaps and continuing dramas for a few years now.

In Eastenders he played the guy who slept with Kat in the alleyway a couple of years ago.

In Holby City he played a patient a couple of years ago too.

In Doctors he played a guy who had been in prison and his mum was dying a few months ago.

In Casualty he has had 3 guest spots - 2 being in the last 18 months. Going by what usually happens, he should become a regular!

Chris is very talented and Mickey had a lot of fans when The Bill was on. I hope a producer somewhere is thinking up a role that he could play.

What do we think?

Mickey was one of my favourites and Chris did a great job with the rape storyline and the football hooligan one.

I agree. I loved that The Bill never forgot about Mickey's past and Chris played him brilliantly.

Do you think he should be in a soap as a regular?

I'd love him to get a bigger part in a soap - I think he's very talented and can play some really heavy storylines.

I'm surprised that he's not got a full-time gig, tbh - but there are a couple from the Bill I think that of.

Not sure. It would depend on which soap and how he was brought into it. Characters that don't come in with links to someone else don't always stay around except in cases where people are brought in after them as supporting family members (as has happened with Kush and Donna in EE for example).

Chris is very capable and great at emotional material so he'd do a good job. As Mickey he also had that likeable charming friendliness. He's quite adaptable and could do well given a chance.

Like you, I liked that his past was acknowledged at times and I adored his friendship with Jack. They did a great job of showing the lingering effects of rape.

that's pretty standard for Kat.

One quick bunk up with Kat shouldn't stop him returning more permanently as a different character.

Another good Bill actress who'd be good in a soap - maybe Emmerdale - was the one who played loony Cathy Bradford.

Same here. He can do drama and emotion so well. I agree that he should come back as a different character. He had longer hair then as well. He was only in the show for about 3 eps so he could easily come back - they've done it with Claudette!

Oh Lord, that's just reminded me, I met him in a London bar a few years ago! Totally forgot about that!

Anyway - yes he should. I'd also like to see the actor who played Terry Perkins in EE.

He was in it as Robbie Jackson's dad.

They should get the actor that played the nasty piece of work Gabriel into Eastenders. That might work.

Smithy also needs to get out of hospitals and into Walford

I also wanted Smithy to be in Eastenders, but at least Alex is working nearby
