That's Helen's responsibility?

Next you'll be blaming Helen for global warming. Like any series it comes down to the housemates. This year they've picked a poor bunch but tonight's evictions and arrivals might just freshen things up.

Helen's series was a ratings success and she was the main reason for that. She was the star of the show throughout. Helen is the person who made the headlines and she was by far the most discussed online.

Helen's series was not a ratings success. It was the lowest rated series until this series and they considered prematurely ending that series too.

It wasn't a ratings success by any stretch of the imagination it was only slightly higher than this year.

By 'considered' do you mean there was a rumour that the show was being axed that turned out not to be true?

Kinda want it to be 'cancelled' but no one tell the housemates. Big Brother stops talking, Friday comes and no eviction, no tasks, no shopping budget. See how long it takes them to cotton on.

Urgh. They've already spent the bulk of the money for this series so they may as well keep the initial end date. Instead of cutting it early (and inevitably axing it forever more) they should use the remainder of this series to implement changes which may actually pull in viewers.

As much as I want them to stop meddling with everything I see no other way forwards now; leaving them to it clearly isn't working so I think they have no choice but to interfere to try and improve ratings.

It's been the same every year for years. There is always a few days when we have to put up with the trolls telling us the show has been cancelled and they got it from a respected inside source. It hasn't come true yet so I suspect we are suffering this years trolling season early.

I have enjoyed a lot of the housemates this year, however, the problem is the diversity of the housemates when put together, not the individuals. They seem to think that a house full of 20-somethings will pull in all the teenage viewers on Earth. It won't. We need a much more diverse mix of housemates. Every channel 5 series has been seriously lacking in older housemates, and yet, the conflict caused by the age difference between the younger and older housemates is natural and often entertaining. Remember the Jim Davidson series in which there was a clear divide between the younger and older housemates? It resulted in a lot of entertaining situations. They really need to switch it up and try something new (well, in this case, old, as it's how it used to be!)

Last year has nothing to do with this year's failings - the issue is a ridiculous launch date pitching it up against the tail end of the election and subsequent set up of government, the climax of the football season and with Britain's Got Talent in full flow. Why they just didn't wait until everything was out of the way and a quiet summer was upon us I will never know. And when was the last time the show launched on a Tuesday?! Even Friday would have been a better bet. The show started on the back foot and hasn't recovered.

To top it off they didn't advertise this series AT ALL. So, unless you were frequently watching C5 or you went out of your way to find out,, you would have had very little chance of knowing that it was starting four weeks earlier than normal.

BB is very much a show which needs to be watched from the beginning. You wouldn't jump into Broadchurch during episode three and expect to understand everything that is going on; BB is the same, you need to see it from the start to really get into it.

I'm only finding this out now! It made no difference though because I watch TV, so I tend to look at the guide to see what's on.

At onetime I would have been sad to see BB come to an end, but not after this shambles.

It was 1.6m which has been the ratings average since the show moved to channel five. Only once has it been higher and that was when Sam Evans won and they had an average of 1.9m. Three out of four years they have had an average of 1.6m. That's a big ratings hit for channel five. It was a really controversial series which captured the imagination of the nation.

Surely this is just when the show is changing from Big Brother: Timebomb back to Big Brother. It'd be totally ridiculous to cut it by that many weeks - especially as they're putting 4 new people in tonight!

The amount of hot air she blurts, I would say that is actually a fair assumption to make

It was also far from a ratings success. If you include +1 figures then it was the lwoest rated Channel 5 Series till now

Yeah, they would have 13 Unique Housemates by tonight. They won't be finishing it within two weeks.

I wouldn't say the 2013 series was controversial.

I'm referring to Helen's series. It was controversial and captured the imagination of the nation. It was a big ratings hit and Helen was the main reason.

Except big blagger are not trolls and that's a fact. Obviously this is just a rumour but remember - where there is smoke, there is fire.

Whatever happens I think C5 have done enough to ensure that no broadcaster will ever pick up BB again. RIP.

Was Series 14 the one with Gina and Dexter? I think that was the closest they got to building great foundations which should have been built on. it had a great theme, nightly Live Feed, decent mix of characters and there was always a lot of discussion on the forum. It was just let down by the winner lol but I really enjoyed that series overall.

You're arguing against yourself! The 2013 series got higher ratings!

I participate in a number of online discussions on other forums which are usually buzzing every year and they are all virtually dead this year. And I think what happened last year, the overall vileness, manipulations of contestants and audience and the victory of a villain who was unfairly advantaged all really put people off who had been watching for years. Many ofthe regulars I talk to about it quote last year as why they have no interest anymore. So they are just not coming back. And while that series did win some new viewers they want something much nastier which many others hate. There are no real friendships or fun anymore.
