..........The Neales performed?

I did and was shocked that the judges felt it too.

I think it was the film in the background that got to me.

Anyone else?

I didn't get this at all, I found it mawkish and sickly. (I don't dislike them, I much preferred their first audition - thought they were a lot better!)

People voted because they felt sympathy for them, and not because of their singing.

How do you know that?

Have you asked those who voted?

No. It was far more cheesy than emotional.

It happens every time in these shows. There is always one act that has a sad story to tell. That is the way it is.

No I didn't.

The production was cheesy they remind me of Father and Son from 2010, but it was a great performance even though it's a easy song to sing.

The Neales version of the song was far far too weak.

Cat Stevens who wrote it, shows how it should be sung :

I hate the song and the Neales rendition of it did nothing at all to make me change my mind - TBH I'm not that keen on this group either - I think their appeal is their back story because they certainly aren't the greatest singers.

No, it made me cringe.

Have to agree. The worrying thing to me was that, after they had finished it seemed to be implied that the back projection was of them as a young family. Not interested. Don't care.

Is this a way to subliminally attack viewers with a back-story that you cannot FF or ignore?

In fact, what on earth has any back-story got to do with a talent show, an entertainment show anyway?

I nearly did. I kind of have this thing where I nearly cry during sad stuff on TV/film but never actually do. Although having said that, I felt a single tear during 'Les Miserables', 'Men In Black 3', 'Toy Story 3' and 'Doctor Who: The End Of Time - Part 2'.

Believe it or not, I nearly let a tear go during Jules & Matisse's performances just because the dog is so adorable and the act is beutiful that it is hard not to admire it.

No, it was far too schmaltzy and middle of the road for me.

It's the more subtle feelings that choke me up.

Agreed - I didn't mind the vocals as such (though they definitely weren't top three worthy), but it felt like they were playing on the father's backstory to emotionally manipulate the audience into voting for them, especially with the film playing while they sung. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

They should have done a Corrie.

"Vote for us - if we don't get through, the shock of it could kill him!"

The toy maker and his 3 wooden dolls...

Very dull, quite poorly sung, espc daddys part.
It takes more than a home movie and three stone faced average looking lads to choke me up.

They must have hit a chord with a lot of the viewers.

Nope, their singing left me cold.

Thought the backdrop was really cheesy too. If it was actually them, then I wouldnt feel comfortable showing private moments in public to an audience. If the film wasnt of them, then they/the producers lied which is even worse.
