Calum completely ripped off Ella Eyre's version of that song

How many times are Cowells shows going to rip off other peoples version of songs and claim them as their own and praise originality? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iwmdq_clSQ - Complete rip off

It was a completely inappropriate version of that song, which showed absolutely no feel for what the song is about. I just completely stripped it of its spirit and of any meaning whatsoever. Why sing it as if it's a wistful song when it is in essence an upbeat carefree song? It's just dumb. I don't like his voice in any case.

Me neither, just another clone for Simon's musak stable.

Calum Scott was seriously diabolical. Just typical of the most hyped up contestants, they usually fail to justify the hype surrounding them.

He was really pitchy throughout the entire song. Issac from last night sang so much better it makes it even more laughable that Calum was a golden buzzer act.

That singer was average. I dont get the fawning over him.

None of the other judges had the balls to tell Simon he was Sh*t, It's like if you dont agree with Simon you dont get to appear next year as a judge. This show has become a joke.

Just like he ripped off Kings of Leon's Live Lounge version of Dancing On My Own.

...and he is also ripping off someone else's version of a song in the finals.

But he will sell to the kiddies and so that's that. Done and dusted.

I can't stand the way the judges say 'You took a big risk'

Well no you didn't, you did a cover version of a popular song. In what way is that risky?

He didn't 'slow' the song down. Whoever came up with that idea and handed it to Ella Eyre did.

Total bollox really

Why is slowing down an up-tempo song, even if it makes no sense that way, automatically seen as a good thing? It's done all the time in these shows, so it doesn't even have novelty value any more. It's boring, predictable and, in most cases, highly inappropriate.

Callum really isn't that great. He reminds me of Shaun from series 3. Average yet treated like The Chosen One.

Completely agree. However good he was, the judges seemed to be prasiing his arrangement when it was just the Ella Eyre version, except Ella is about 10000x better, I LOVE her version <3 Calum is decent but very X Factor shock exit, so I don't know why he's a potential BGT winner. I guess with only 3 performances on BGT you don't have that same pressure to deliver as on X Factor when you have to do one every week for up to 10 weeks.

THIS!!! I said the same thing in the live thread. The song is about someone wanting to get him into bed and him arguing that they could have fun without getting it on. He sounded like he'd just had his heart broken.

Right again! It makes songs so dreary too... even party songs like this one. Blurgh!

Also, if Ella Eyre came up with that arrangement then she needs to learn that sometimes songs are sung in a certain style because if makes sense. Singing this song like that almost makes it ironic.
