I used to enjoy BGT but this year especially it seems totally fixed just like X Factor. My favourites are no longer in it - Emma Jones & Kanneh Masons are far more talented than that cocky kid they put through yesterday & the boring singing guy tonight. I really don't care who wins now
Strange thing is most people on facebook group seem to agree. Emma had far less time than some of the others, rubbish comments from judges (no enthusiasm from them) & no standing ovation

The winners are based o. The good old voting general public, admited ly most if them are probably your typical Jeremy Kyle participants who have more children than teeth, or teenage girls with multiple phones, hence why we have shite acts and teenage boy singers in the final.

Well I wish them luck with their tour then - most of them wouldn't be able to get a ticket - oh wait, no they're the ones with more money than the rest of us

I've said it before, but one generous individual needs to go from house to house (like Santa) and smash the phones of every single teenage girl in britain, and then reimburse them once the BGT final voting has closed.

Have you seen the Twitter feeds for BGT, young girls are voting for the acts they fancy, rather than the acts they enjoy the most. They may as well give the final contestants paper bags to wear over their heads to make the votes more fair.

The teenage girl vote will never change.

At one time girls would buy a cd single because the male singer on the cover "looked fit". The quality of song was irrelevant.

Likewise, a cute 17 year old boy could be in a semi final and burp the alphabet and teenage girls would vote for him "because he's cute".

The show should be renamed Britain's Got Cute Bland Males.

So with two wildcards in the show what happens if the judges choose the same act as the GBP?

I do think they put certain acts on certain nights to give the ones the judges want a better chance of getting through.

I reckon UDI, for instance, were on the night they were on because they were expected to win the semi final. However, the free app votes meant Jamie Raven won instead.

I think their comments also influence the voting - some are quite subtle but can still change public perception. Like David mentioning that a boys shoelaces came undone (can't remember which group now) I don't think viewers would have noticed but once pointed out makes them appear unprofessional.

Well Amanda and David will vote for their golden buzzer acts, so it will be left to the other two to decide who goes through.

Exactly. The people who vote are young girls and grannies, all who go 'awww' at cute lads. If the 3 brothers singing 'Father & Son' had been average-looking they wouldn't have gotten through, regardless of how much what they did 'connected' with people (I thought it was cheesy wank tbh), and Isaac was automatically through. He didn't even need to sing a single note.

Will David though? Because although Lorraine Bowen is his golden buzzer act, he said on Thursday night that Marc & Wendy was his 'favourite act' in the competition.

I'd like to do an experiment where you get a large sample of people to watch BGT but edit the judges comments out and play the acts in a random order. Then see how the voting % work out. It would be interesting to see how much influence those things have because it seems like the judges comments away the vote massively but I can't believe people are so easily led

That would be very interesting, it's clear to me that the judges comments are massively important in relation to how well an act does in the voting, you can see this in the results. I also find it strange that the judges opinions have such a big effect, but they clearly do and the judges know this and it allows them to manipulate the vote when necessary. if you took away the comments and had the acts in a random order there is no doubt the voting % would change.
You would still have the voting demographic issue though, so acts like Isaac and calum would still do well whatever the scenario but perhaps not quite as well but it would have a bigger effect on the voting for the other acts

To be fair, as humans we're designed to be influenced by the opinions of leaders and prominent people in society.. It's what holds society together. All Cowell & co are doing are exploiting that vulnerability.

I wonder if there will be any leaks of who has got the wild cards before tomorrow evening as i would think that the contestants would know today if they have been successful or not.

I think that the show can be fixed to a certain extent. If the producers don't like an act, they can put it up against strong competition deliberately in a semi-final knowing that the act will lose, or if they sympathise with a particular act they can put it in an easy semi-final against weak competition so that it will stroll through.

Obviously this doesn't always go to plan though, I don't think the producers counted on The Neales getting in the top 3 and knocking out Boyband, although they deserved to do so.

I don't think they fix the public vote, but there are ways of trying to sway the public. For example, giving them the last slot, going OTT in praise, the production they get.

Giving the judges the power to choose the next person to go through, same on X Factor i do think is fixed. I honestly believe, Simon and another know who is actually top and based on that they decide whether to revert back to public vote or not depending on how it will look if they don't take a specific act through.

Hitstastic and performingmonk, why do you assume that everyone in the same age bracket is the same? Are you the same as everyone else of your age in the country? Of course not! That is such a lazy and simplistic and silly idea. I have a grandson but I don't fall into your stereotype!

The first series was rigged in my mind. I remember all final acts in semi's one their shows and then Paul Potts won the final going on last.

I don't think I watched the very first series but in all the other years I think most of my favourites seemed to go through to the final so public vote pretty much reflected this. This year just seems different though somehow!? Just don't like feeling conned & I'm beginning to hate the smug looking judges.
