help in deciding which tablet to get!

it is for my parents. they aren't as computer savvy.

their criteria:
- not too expensive, pref £200 limit approx.
- play videos well when streaming,
- the screen needs to be big, over 10 inches.
- must have a stand ability without spending too much (or anything at all) on accessories
- needs to have good speakers as they dont like wearing headphones.
- easy to setup.
- lots of apps available to download and use.
- no hidden 'junk' apps or complicated procedures.
- no 'pen' as that'd get lost in no time.

secondary criteria (if you want to get techy, from my perspective):
- good memory capacity
- good processor
- good video graphics

so far i'm considering the lenovo yoga tablet 2, and the samsung galaxy tabpro (even if no stand for this one). apple looks to have surprisingly inferior specs for such a high price. they dont want a laptop

thanks

Go for the Samsung Galaxy TabPro 10.1 - great tablet for the money and will do all they want easily and quickly. I've had the Lenovo one and it's slow and clunky in comparison and wouldn't recommend one.

ah, too late, went for the lenovo, will be picking it up tomorrow and will see whats it like

my mum wants it because of the stand bit and being able to watch eastenders in the kitchen while dad's watching the cricket, its got speakers too

Performance really won't be an issue for most people.

The Yoga 2 seems a perfect choice to me.

It's about the same price but the Yoga 2 has a much worse spec and you can get a case with a built in stand for about £10 for the Samsung. Not sure what would make the Yoga 2 a perfect choice?

we're thinking about returning it - my mum says she doesnt know how to use it and prefers the laptop as thats quicker

The only use I have ever found for a tablet is watching iPlayer, playing the occasional (free) game and sometimes reading.

The idea of using a 10" tablet to replace a laptop does not seem credible.

The earlier model Yoga 8" might have been more useful.
It has a lower resolution screen than the Yoga 2, but that does not really matter for iPlayer and Angry Birds.

You can get it on Amazon for £128

Or a refurb from Argos for £95

Sounds like a cheap second hand iPad might be more up their street (to meet the budget). That's about as simple as it gets.
