Not sure if this is new news from the Three blog (about phones not bought from Three being supported "eventually"):

Hi Steven – If you let me know who you purchased the phone from, I’ll see if it’ll be supported on our 800 MHz band. That being said, as it stands it’s only phones bought from Three that will have access to the VoLTE update. We’ll be releasing the update for non Three phones eventually but there’s no definite date yet for when this will take place. Thanks

Interesting post. I have a Three branded Lumia 635. The specs says: it supports LTE band 3(1800), 7(2600), 20(800) - RM-974, does that mean I'll see something other than H+ on the display at some point?

I wonder if the way Three is going to support other devices will be the rumoured inTouch update, allowing voice calls to be made and received over 4G data when you have no 3G fallback (and presumably allowing 800 access).

I have found that inTouch is pretty solid on my Nexus 6P, although I do only use it for calls - not messaging.

Either that or maybe Three is going to start using the features from Android Lollipop onwards that allows remote configuration of IMS settings etc?

Not sure where that would leave Windows Phone, unless Microsoft does things like Apple so all phones will be capable - not ones with custom builds.

Good offer (I've used Deezer before and it's pretty good):

No, and I am not sure Three will want to speak to me about anything at the moment.

I don't genuinely understand why they aren't allowing everyone with a compatible phone have access to the 800 band unless it's an overloading issue.

They have had issues with battery drain on the S5 I think so I would say it's perfectly understandable to do a gradual roll out. Hopefully it will speed up soon. Still allows them to claim the coverage though and on that note, is 800 still rolling out? Nothing much has changed around here since the switch on. Not that anything much ever changes here, aside from EE.

I have found In Touch to be OK although at the moment it won't connect so I need to call them. It did an update and then went wrong. Maybe to do with switching SIMs or something. Anyway, it's OK but what really annoys me is why they can't have an indicator on the icon when you get a text. You just get a silly little thing up in the top left which is a waste of time and I miss most of them. Also I can't seem to stop it telling me over and over again that it's in or out of service. How do I turn off those damned notifications? Other than that, it's been OK on my ZTE.

You're in the naughty corner for raising the issue of roaming speeds!

Good on you through that's what journalism is all about when it's done properly. It beats just re-writing press releases.

Hi does anyone know when three will switch to its 800 signal, I am going to switch hopefully to the LG g4 tomorrow if someone can answer this for me, the current signal without supervoice is 0-1 bar.... About 117- 120dBm it's unusable I'm hoping if I was to switch to the G4 I'll happily get 800 as we are supposed to have excellent indoor coverage. Has anyone been able to find out what the switch point is I.e below 110dBm etc....

Thanks for your help in advance

It will not switch to 800 unless there is NO other signal.

It is a very lightly populated area, give it time. It'll be in the later phases of the rollout as all providers are targeting the most populated areas first and working down.

Pretty sure the A38 passes through that area though, which is the main road for South Devon and South East Cornwall and Plymouth/Exeter/M5.

I live in a not amazingly densely populated area of Cornwall and 800Mhz is available here (and 1800 a mile or two away). Not that it matters as I don't have a compatible phone

Well that's crap so Your phone will sit trying to find a better signal all the time when there is a perfectly good 4G signal sat waiting.

Yep, when i was visiting an aquarium, the phone kept dropping the 800MHz for a useless -113dBm 3G signal.

Rant over once updated can you force the LG G4 to use 800 only via the menu settings? On 277634#*# and choose band 20?

This may or may not be of any help, I was contacted by Three today regarding a lack of signal in LA15 postcode area, and the operator told me there was a major update being rolled out out 13th December, Fingers crossed
