How much speed can 15Mhz of 1800 Provide-I'd guess somewhere in the region of 120-150mbps?

I'm pretty sure I saw a speedtest with O2's 5.8MHz of 1800MHz providing 60mbps+, so surely nearly 3x the spectrum should produce more than twice the speed.

A 3 1800MHz monopole went live in Guildford recently, only about 6 months after the planning application got approved and in an area with supposedly great 800MHz, so they still care about 1800.
I drive around Guildford a lot every day and almost always it seems to connect to 3G , apart from near the Lido, where i get almost full strength 4G

Current theoretical maximums are ~150Mb/s per 20MHz so Denco's numbers are right. Higher might be possible in future with either higher order MIMO (everyone is currently 2x2) or 256QAM (which adds about 30% to the numbers). |

It would have been either 800 + 1800 CA or more likely just 800MHz on its own.

I must have either misread your post or you have since changed the wording because my reply no longer applies or makes any sense. I also feel like I tend not get any conversation going or any feedback from my thoughts. Maybe you see me as an outsider without any relevant or new information. So I've just answered my own question.

Next week: Xperia Z5. I have got a EE sourced Z5 and I wonder whether it will connect to 800Mhz if I fash it with Three software. |

He's right, the devices list behind the coverage map does include the Z5 with VoLTE capability; the map itself doesn't show the 800 'super-pumped' coverage when selecting the Z5 as your device.

"Sony Xperia Z5 is compatible with our 4G Super-Voice network. Please ensure you've downloaded the latest software update. ** This update may take up a lot of space on your device. You might need to back up your content (to a computer or cloud storage) and then remove some content from your device before you can install this update." |

It's incredibly easy to swap and change ROMs on a Sony Xperia. As long as there's a Three ROM, it's easy to download the FTF and flash.
I'd hope that Three is going to reconsider its support for the Z3. We all know it supports VoLTE and that the Z2 was a test device that Three used, so that can too, but it just seems to be down to whether Three wants to add the support, test the ROM, approve it and then roll it out. Part of me thinks it's to make people upgrade their device, so handsets that can support SuperVoice just won't get it for marketing reasons. |

Just wondering if there has been another software update from Three for the S5 as when I got my phone back from repair the other day it was requesting an update so I did it, but I don't seem to appear to have the 2 horizontal arrows at the moment that I believed indicated VoLTE?
The version I am running now is (if somebody that has an S5 could check their please): Android version: 5.0 Build number: LRX21T.G900FXXU1BOD3 Hopefully it's a new version and not the old version that I had before the 800mhz 4G upgrade (I've tried checking for updates and it says it's up to date. Everything still seems to work fine and it looks as though I'm still getting fairly good 4G coverage like I was before driving around. Cheers, Mark. |

I have read many posts stating that the new volte signal travels for miles.
Can someone explain then why I only get 1 bar of signal level and only for seconds at a time when I am under 1/2 a mile from the transmitter? I very often have no signal when indoors. The volte situation is exactly the same outdoors even though I am allegedly well within an area with 'Excellent superpumped service'. Quote:
Are you sure that it is actually coming from the mast you think it is?
Quote:
I can't be absolutely sure, but it is my nearest mast and I always get very low level of signal even with 3G & normal 4G.
When 3 first updated the coverage map for my area because of 'superpumped', the strong area was around my closest transmitter including my location. Then after a few weeks, they changed it to show a wider area of 'superpumped' service. I went around my local area today and found that there are two masts providing 'superpumped' volte. The one about 2 miles away is next to a large retail area. When near that I get a maximum signal. All bars showing. Only when I am right next to my nearest transmitter (Under 1/2 mile from my home as the crow flies), do I get 3 bars. So that transmitter must be on very low power. No idea why as there are loads of complaints in this area for mobile signals. I am between the two transmitters. |

I've finally got the S5 update to fix the SMS failure problems. It did though get rid of the VoLTE settings in the call setting and it no longer has the arrows at the top when on LTE. Despite that, it still connects to 800MHz and still makes VoLTE calls.
P.S It's unfortunate that it works now as I can't get another free month on that SIM. P.P.S Now all the compatible phones work successfully on VoLTE, they would be enabling it for iPhones surely. |

Since iPhones are probably the easiest to activate it for you would have thought they would have been first.
It's all arse about face!! Unless of course Apple are refusing until the puppet gets it....... |

One page back in the thread:
It would seem that it's still active, just the settings and icon have been hidden by Three. I've been reading the thread on and off when I get a chance, but must have missed that one. It's strange as the old firmware with the 2 horizontal arrows worked ok with SMS and the battery drain also went once I did a factory reset. Mark. |

Why am I not getting these fantastic speeds?
On Oct 24th, Three started broadcasting in my town on 1800mhz (4G). It was on for 4 days, went off for 4 days and then came on for good. It is now also included on the latest coverage map update. However, I have been running some speed tests all over the town including standing right next to the mast and all I can get out of it at any time of the night and day is around 8-10mbs. I got one fluke of 13mbs but that was a one off. So why am I not getting these 30-100mbs speeds? It's a good signal as I can even get 1 to 2 bars inside my house where I normally sit. |

Supposedly Apple has mucked up VoLTE in the UK hence why the update has been delayed from Three. Vodafone are having similar issues.
