So it was a comment on the blog that even then wasn't confirmed as definite.... right.

You guys need to know that this stuff isn't massively in demand, you're a bit more obsessed than most. Three did bring out the app, maybe they will do it at some point, but they have never officially announced it.

Why would Three invest in the VV platform now when they have plans to acquire the infrastructure which O2 already has. If the deal goes through they'll be able to offer it to all - if not, they may have to fork out for their own if they want to use it.

I've always used HulloMail with Three - gives more functionality than native VV.

Excuse my ignorance.

Since yesterday in Hull I've started getting the volte icon even when I only have H+ does this mean I'm using 4g for calls but 3.5g for data?

Make a phone call and find out? You can't be connected to 3G and 4G at the same time, so whatever your phone says at the top is what the phone call is going through.

In all likelihood, your phone calls will go through 3G and the VoLTE icon is there because you are registered on the VoLTE network, so if your 3G signal drops you will be able to make calls over 4G.

Ha I didn't think to do that.
Just tried and the Volte icon stayed on even though on H+ is this normal??

It's just telling you VoLTE is enabled.
You are on 3G so the call will be going over 3G.
As was said before you can't connect to both 3G and 4G at the same time.
This feature would be called simultaneous voice and data and isn't used in the UK mainly due to massive battery drain.

Cheers for the reply. Until yesterday I only ever got the icon when I was on 4g. Was surprised to see it on 3g.

Thanks to both of you for explaining.

Well that's interesting.
I wonder if that means they have SRVCC working in places now?
This is where you would have call handover from 4G to 3G and back.

Question to everyone with Three VoLTE...
Do you all have the ability to turn VoLTE off in Settings?
Just wondering about the implications for this over on the Vodafone thread.
If VoLTE can be turned off you could then potentially have 800 data but no call ability (which isn't allowed).
Is it possible that turning off VoLTE also turns off 800? I can't see how this would work but maybe it does.
Did that make sense?

After the last update the menu for VoLTE disappeared, I would add, until that update I had the VoLTE arrows icon on screen at all times, both on 3G and 4G. The arrows icon also disappeared with the update, so even with VoLTE active there is no longer any indication on screen.

When I checked this morning the iPhone was still stating it wasn't compatible with 3's supervoice.

It has briefly done this before on the coverage checker! It was quickly changed again! Let's hope this time it's for real..

Ha, I don't believe you, Devon said the same about getting 4G, I've seen no proof that he did it either .

You just want to see me get arrested don't you ha ha. There has been quite a lot of work around here and as other have said in their areas. The planned maintenance for the 11th Dec has now been removed so maybe the work is complete.
