Anyone with a supervoice enabled device finding they can't get mobile data to connect when on Home Signal? Nothing seems to bring it back, restarted phone, restarted HS box, called Three and nothing is wrong. Not an issue as i connect to WiFi but thought it's a bit odd.

All of those that are struggling to understand exactly why some problems take time to fix when all you need is backhaul, has anyone considered that it may be another issue such as interference? Something beyond the networks' control in that area?

We have unusable WiFi (2.4ghz) due to some localised interference every 5 or so minutes. Using the 5GHz band resolves the issue.

Our problem was not overlapping networks, it was broad spectrum interference that affects equipment using nearby frequencies as well (non-WiFi), it shows as if the background noise jumps for a few seconds.

Most of our neighbours have tried to determine the cause as well but so far (2 years) we haven't found it.

I'm pretty sure what i'm experiencing is down to an ancient orange site with poopy backhaul. One cell delivers fantastic speeds, the other delivers really poor speeds. Willing to be proven wrong but from looking at Cell IDs during speedtests seems to pinpoint a problem with one cell, which im 99% certain is the old orange cell.

I have made calls over the 800Mhz using Three in touch.

Beta or the current Play store version.

To clarify, you don't have 800 normally and installing ThreeinTouch permits your device access to 800? your device isn't supported in the list presumably but TiT allows you access?

The IiT is the current play store version.

I have 800Mhz only when my phone fails to connect to 1800Mhz and 2100Mhz.

My device is in the supported list but it is NOT sourced from Three. I have installed the Three branded firmware but I don't have the VOLTE arrows.

Sounds like it's more to do with the fact you've got a supported device with Three firmware,

We all see the "mobile calling active" BTW but at the moment it doesn't allow us on to 800, at least not for me.

Has anyone managed to get VoLTE ie supervoice 800 MHz on iPhone 6s+ anywhere. Non existent everywhere I've tried. Typically you will only see after dropping to less than 1 bar where previously you'd have no signal #three #mobile #VoLTE

I have ios 9.2.1 and the 23.1 carrier update

Three seem to have decided to remove the VoLTE arrows icon with their recent updates, so they aren't indicative of VoLTE or not anymore.

I prefer it not saying when on VoLTE. You'll know if you have VoLTE as you'll stay on 4G when you make a call, if not then you'll drop to 3G to connect the call. The only issue i find is when my phone is connected to 1800 and i attempt to make a call it will fail to connect but will drop down, if i attempt it again it then works fine. Three implementation does need a bit of polishing.

In other words it doesn't matter as if you're on 800 the call will connect and if you're on 1800 you'll be in range of 3G also and will drop for the call to connect. Next steps are proper 4G -> 3G and vice versa handover along with 1800 VoLTE support, hopefully then the transmit power of 1800 can then be increased.

So is Three In Touch allowing non-Three devices to connect to 800/VoLTE?

Got another response from Three regarding my congestion complaint, been forwarded to the "Executive Networks Team". My educated guess that it was an old orange site was correct, i simply asked "is it the one in the YHA grounds" and all the advisor said was "Yes, i cannot confirm any other details regarding the congestion or the base station as that data is strictly confidential". Going to get a call back within the next 48 hours. Looking promising, the social media advisor did say however there is no guarantee this will lead to the problem being rectified but said they would "explore other options" with me.

A semi-MBNL'd cell site? Looks like Three simply decided to hop on without sorting it's backhaul.

Ye, turn WiFi off. You'll want to force 800 to get it to connect to VoLTE.. Do you know how to do that on the G4? If not:

1 - Go to the dialer and type in: 277634#*#
2 - Click "Field Test"
3 - Click "Modem Settings"
4 - Click "LTE Band Selection"
5 - Click "Band 20"
6 - The phone should then come up with a prompt saying "Success", click "Ok".
7 - Your phone will now ONLY connect to 800 4G (and VoLTE)

Three were happy to tell me the average session data speed for my mast

I'll ask them them again then when they ring in a couple of days time.

EDIT: Was that just from asking front line CS?

Thanks mate, this doesn't work with International G4, says FAIL, although this has none three firmware on it

Most likely work on 3 branded G4 from Three

Wow! Well an update from me....

I was in a 4G supervoice area earlier and made a 4G call! 4G remained through the call, and crucially when I went to settings->general->about & clicked on carrier, the "Carrier Three 23.1" changed to "IMS Status Voice & SMS" (this is on iPhone 6s+, running IOS 9.2.1)

The location in question has regular 4G, and has for ages. It only hooked on to using VoLTE initially after a reboot. After the first signal loss (from walking) it wouldn't go back onto VoLTE at all. Presumably it was on 2.1 Ghz then. With the signal lost on 4G it went to 3G, and then no signal. The VoLTE connection never reappeared even reversing the walk.

SO it looks as if VoLTE is active & enabled, but the switching thresholds/preferences/algorithms are meaning it's rarely useful. Or maybe it's just sparsity of coverage despite what the maps suggest? Or perhaps there's even a bug that it only works just after reboot!

Are you on Marshmallow? The code is different for that OS.

Three have given me some VERY exciting news, two new masts are being built down my valley that is going to cover the big black spot down the valley i live in. They are also replacing two "legacy" towers slightly further away, new backhaul planned too.

She confirmed that the old orange mast in town is indeed the one causing the slow-downs and is currently running on "legacy" backhaul as it's main backhaul has completely failed, due to be repaired and given new backhaul. I asked about it's average session data rate, she said currently it's just shy of 1 Mbps. All the others covering the area are showing around 7 Mbps average session rate. Three also now have a complaints department in the UK, she gave me the direct number for it too should i have any other issues.

Plus 2 week line rental refund. Very happy and was surprised how much info they could give me, she even told me where the new masts were going to be placed.
