Thanks. Certainly starting to look impressive, even though most don't use it.
I wonder how many masts that is. Shame we can't find out.
Knowing EE are going to be doing around 3800 would be good to know for comparison.

This kind of coverage just shows what a coulee wade of time 800 is with Three. Just how many of those in the purple or red areas have had the chance to use 800? I bet that Three can see just what a waste of money this is for them by analysing calls made/received and data consumed on 800. Utter shambles really. Most networks would love that kind of 4G coverage but it's just the most pointless coverage check ever when people see they are in an area that is "super pumped"!

I suspect the long term plan is to use O2's 800 if the deal goes through and then crank it. At the moment they are just show-boating coverage.

If there are to be updates to enable non-Three supplied phones to use VoLTE, maybe they'll change the priorities at some point in the future.

Otherwise it will have been a lot of money for very little gain.

I suppose you would sometimes have to wade through a coulee but I fail to see what this has to do with mobile networks...........

Hahahahahahahaha

What if Three reallocate all services after the acquisition?

15 Mhz @800 and 15 Mhz @1800 sounds OK. With a bit of @1400 thrown in it could work well. They could even fall back to 2g@900 for non VoLTE phones.

Hell, make the @800 VoLTE only and crank it up for indoor coverage.

Just a dream?

Well I have now paid off my contract early to go SIM free (£18/month for unlimited data, 200mins and 12gb of tethering) as I've got my suspicions that Three may either get rid of unlimited data or make it a lot more expensive in the future (especially if the Telefonica thing goes ahead).

I must admit that I've always been happy with Three's coverage and speeds although I'm looking more for good coverage in the areas I go to with a minimum speed of 3/4meg and not the fastest speeds as that is more than adequate for most things I do (I do a lot of Internet radio streaming in the car and the kids like to watch a lot of Youtube/iPlayer).

Just had a look at the Three site and it looks like the £18/month deal has now gone up to £20 when I looked for somebody else.

I'm guessing I've got on the £18/month plan in time as I asked them to change it a few days ago and it starts on 17th Jan. Phew.

I do think that when Three can find the right moment, perhaps just minutes after launching a new 'We made everything right!' commercial, they'll ditch AYCE handset data OR jack up the price, having now introduced many more intermediate tariffs.

I think from Three's perspective it may opt for the latter option. Keep AYCE data so it still exists, but price it such that it really won't be worth the cost for most people, especially given it's handset only anyway. Would many people pay £40 or £45 a month (SIM only; imagine the handset tariff rates) for unlimited data?

It must be later this year when everyone will be coming to the end of their 2 year One Plan contracts, so assuming everyone gets put on notice, there should be a drop on network usage that solves some of the problems Three has at the moment.

Something is definitely going on with my local mast. (Postcode is the postcode of the RM delivery office and is NOT mine )

I had no service at all when i came home from work a couple of hours ago, seems to be back now. Dare i say they are upgrading it?

The OnePlan was £23 at one point, so the unlimited data cost seems to be slowly going back to that price...

Probably just maintenance, we all get it several times a year. You seem to be getting a bit too over the top with all these posts saying 'am I getting upgraded' pretty much every day.

Just chill, you'll see an upgrade at some point I'm sure but these may just be general maintenance.

I looked for a sticky on this and also back a few pages with no luck, so apologies if I missed it, but what exactly is happening with their publicised roll out plan http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Netw..._will_I_get_4G ?

My town has not been enabled yet and there's still many present on the list, sic. "Once we have 4G live in selected sites in or around these towns and cities we will remove them from the list below.".

It's a weird list. One place on there I know hasn't got 4G (well, it has 800 according to the maps, so clearly that counts technically even though neither me, my wife or parents - who live there - can use it).

Meanwhile, a place not on the list has had 4G 1800 for a while now.

I think someone forgot to update the list some time ago. Maybe some places will get carried forward if they decide to do a 2016 one?

I think someone at Three tore up their entire roll out plan quite some ago, it seems the new policy is to just not have any sort of plan and to just stumble from day to day and mast to mast.

The village next to mine has 1800MHz 4G but of course none of Cornwall is in 3's "list".

Inexplicably they still haven't done 1800 in our only city, or the largest town

If you ask me they all do it arse about face.
Most of South Devon was covered (for sheep and cows) before they did Totnes and even then not the Town's main mast.
But yeah, you'd think Truro really.
EE4G is great there except for the Old Ale House which appears to be in a pale area on the map (pale area for current low power 4G we know means stand on your car roof with your phone in a selfie stick and wave it about), which would explain why not only did I get my ear drums destroyed by The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys but also I only had 2G/3G there.

Conversely, seems to be a hell of a lot of VOD activity down there at the mo. Limited to towns still but they seem to be putting some effort in.

OK looks like I'll just forget that roll-out list then.
Recently Warwick had 4G enabled intermittently, so I presume that was for test purposes, but I've no idea what the usual "process" is.
How does one determine the mast locations and technology supported? Again I've tried searching but can't find the info.

Looks like Helston and Padstow planned.
Why can't you zoom the map out instead of having to scan around it? It's not like they haven't bothered at all like with 3G.
I see there's some near Camborne, where the train don't stop Wednesdays!

it gets worse on the coverage checker.....

We're aware there's been a network problem in your area for some time. We're really sorry if your services are affected – we're doing all we can to fix it.

Legal reasons mean we're restricted from getting to the faulty site to investigate the issue at the moment. Rest assured, we'll find and fix the problem as soon as we're granted access.

Don't forget, you can always get help with signal problems at network support.

For my area it currently says:

'We're aware there's been a network problem in your area for some time. We're really sorry if your services are affected – we're doing all we can to fix it.

The nature of this problem means we need to work with another company which makes solving it more complex. Rest assured, we're pushing them to help us as soon as they can.'

Whilst it's crap from a coverage perspective it does seem as though Three are at least trying to provide a degree of transparency / explanation when there's a problem, which the other networks certainly don't.

when they commission a new mast they must surely have service level agreements in place which will specify the time they will be given access. the legal message above must mean they've been stopped from accessing the site
