Hi

Three don't really seem to care about their customers. I've had ongoing problems in the HP2 area, mainly droped calls. I can't use Super Voice in the HP1 area, even though that area is swamped with Super Voice and has a Three Store.

Spoke with Three Network Support on 4 occassions, this time they refused to talk to me. Spoke with Customer Relations. They arent willing to do anything.

Just keep getting told, theres nothing they can do with coverage in that area.

Might just make that jump to EE, I'm just waiting on EE to activate 8000Mhz to the masses lol.

Excuse my ignorance. I have an EE branded LG G4 and I'd like to see if Three 800MHz will give me coverage at work as currently EE/Three do not work at all!

Can I flash my LG G4 with the Three firmware, pop in my Three SIM (PAYG) and test using this handset?

Yes you can, quite risky though so you do it at your own risk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...8&postcount=14

Again, providing EE does actually work (considering network issues with 3 could also affect EE because of them sharing the same infrastructure) you could threaten to leave Three and see if that suddenly makes them listen.

Is the phone 'unlocked'?

Hi

I got the impression today that if I told Three I was going to leave, they would of happily given me my PAC Code lol.

Thanks

Anyone heard any more about ThreeInTouch allowing 800 / VoLTE access?

No, it seems to have been forgotten about and even on their blog the staff won't comment past "looking into it", just like they were about a year ago.

Looks like it's been filed in the "too difficult" drawer for now.

The coverage checker has it listed though right, ThreeInTouch "tint test device"

So they must be thinking of doing it, I think it's just a question of when. Probably when they have enough 800 to throw a load more devices on it.

Perhaps, but considering their 800Mhz VoLTE doesn't work properly, their priority might well be to get that working first. Something they currently don't seem capable of doing...

My thought is that there isn't enough of it to prioritise it over 3G, I think that's the main issue. As they continue to upgrade more sites I think they'll increase the priority more and more and then they can add ThreeInTouch access I guess.

One thing that I don't think I've seen mentioned here is that from Three's submissions in regards to BTEE, it seems they plan to start refarming 2100MHz for 4G quite early with 2x5MHz in 2017 and another 2x5 in 2018 leaving 3G running on 2x5MHz in some places after that with a total switch off sometime in the next decade.

I think that is very sensible, given the extra capacity that LTE provides, with so much 2100Mhz and such widespread handset support for it.

Three has a customer base which generally has very up to date or higher end devices, within a couple of years most customers will have 4G 2100Mhz capable handsets, so it means they can maximise capacity and network performance.

That seems quite a drastic step to take considering VoLTE by them has so far been a f*ck up! Effectively ending DC-HSPA+ within the next two years sounds very cut-throat. If the Hutchinson deal for O2 gets approval then that can ease such pressure, but if not?...

Also are 3 presently selling handsets/MiFi/dongles that can support LTE Band 1?

Not just VoLTE, but anything to do with LTE and 3 seems to be a case of "overpromise, under deliver"

Here in Cornwall we're still waiting for some proper 1800 coverage - they've decided that a random village in mid Cornwall is in dire need of it, but not the two largest settlements in the county

It's a bold plan, I like it. But does that take into account extra spectrum from o2 and the fact that Three's can't seem to hold down a plan to save their lives? The 2014 and 2015 4G rollout lists come to mind...

We're talking 2 years away, plenty of time as we're 90 days into VoLTE.

A very large amount of handsets sold over the last few years have 2100 LTE support, most of the main ones.

I don't think they could have assumed 3O2 in their submissions so it will be their standalone plans.

Recent technical upgrades involving 3 don't seem to inspire confidence much even if VoLTE is still in the infancy on their network. Also at present only some handsets with 3 UK firmware can take advantage of VoLTE, so in that sense it isn't much the case that while there are significant amounts of Band 1 LTE compatible handsets available worldwide, what ones that 3 sell do? Certainly the higher end handsets support the band but it seems to be a mixed bag in the mid & budget price range.

But what about handsets that don't yet support VoLTE? Also, what devices are actually going to support VoLTE?

I've had my Samsung Galaxy S4 for over a year and a half, it's a very good phone and it currently works. I don't see the need to upgrade until most apps start dropping support for it, which won't be anytime soon. Will the S4 ever get VoLTE? Can it even handle VoLTE?

If it won't ever get VoLTE, then I won't be able to make calls on Three if they turned off 3G!

The S4 is almost 3 generations (years) back now though, the S7 comes out this spring, and we're talking another 2 years before Three does this AND 3G will still be available to fall back to for voice, it'll just have a lot less spectrum than now. Turning off 3G is a long way off, we're talking a reduction in 3G spectrum in 2 years time.

No. What i said is that they will start refarming 2100MHz spectrum from 2017 but there will still be at least 2x5MHz on 3G until well into the 2020s so you won't need VoLTE for voice. You might need to upgrade before 2030 though

Odds are, I doubt you will still be wanting to be using that s4 at the end of 2017.

I'm surprised you can still use the S4 to be honest. That thing is a dog. To be honest, even the S6 is a dog.
