I doubt that's the case. The more congestion on a tower, the slower the speeds, so the lower the data usage. So I don't think I'd be affecting anyone else's Internet experience. Me doing speed test on a site which gets 95Mbps isn't really anything to worry about. If anything it helps them. I do admit though that I should not unnecessaryly use the speed test app.
You would go mental if you saw my EE speed test usage. The main point of getting the EE SIM was for speed tests though.

If I stream anything it's the BBC news while eating my lunch in the car.

Yeah I'm pretty rubbish at getting sarcasm which is why I force everybody I know to us "/s" to indicate it was a joke. Maybe that is why you used a smiley face.

I get that you were joking this time but I still didn't want anybody else reading to get the wrong impression or get angry at me for using the Speed Test app.

I also get the real awkwardness from what you've written that I clearly didn't get your joke. This is why I prefer voice conversations.
You should start a podcast as that's what all the cool kids do these days. /s

Cap all speedtest to 15mbs a second using the speedtest app, if your getting 15mbs your getting more than enough to do any data intensive tasks, with less speedtests being done maybe everyone else whose watching video, browsing won't get any slowdown? I've bee with 3 4 years and my pals always say why can you your internet when I'm on the phone, there on o2 so drops to 2g abs they can't receive any whatsapps or emails, the network is future proof, they just need to increase coverage in places and roll out 800lte more, fingers crossed with the o2 spectrum they will compete.

Just so you all know my partner and myself who are both on the One Plan at £15 with the discount got our letters yesterday. After reading about Three moving people on to the new tariff it turns out there is nothing you can do to stop them if you are out of contract. After accepting this I phoned Three and got put through to cancellations, not the retention department. The person on the phone said the best deal they can do is AYCE calls, texts & data with 12GB for tethering for the £33 minus the £3 discount just like it said in the letters. after calling his bluff and asking for my PAC Code he transferred me to the retention department, this is where you want to speak to someone. I ask what they were able to do if I stayed with them and after some long haggling with the girl going back and forward with her manager I was able to get AYCE calls, texts & data with 12GB for tethering for £20 on a 12 month contract. The best I could get for my partner who did not want to spend anymore than £15 per month was AYCE calls & texts with 8GB of data for the phone or tethering on a rolling 1 month contract. I tried my best to get them to give her AYCE data on the phone if she signed up for 12 months but they just could not offer it. Hope this helps.

Just got off the phone after speaking with Three and totally dumbstruck.

We have 3 contracts in the house all on the One Plan £15 offer. So far just the 1 has received the letter (arrived yesterday). Thought I would play smart and try to negotiate for all 3 at the same time to give me some leverage. After the operator giving me all the corporate spiel about why it had to change and actually we were on a plan that cost £25 but we had a £10 discount she wouldn't budge on the prices on the website.

Told her we would take all 3 PAC's so she put me on hold. Came back and offers me AYCE minutes, AYCE texts and AYCE data for £20 a month for the other 2 contracts but for the contract that has relieved the letter nothing. Take the standard price or leave.

Tried and tried but there was no movement.

Got a text from Three telling me 4G Supervoice is now available on my LG G4, bit late don't you think?

This "supervoice" is such a joke.
All EE to EE 3G calls are now in wideband audio, or 3G to WiFi calling.
What's so super about Three's unless it's super that you can't actually use it!

Vodafone also have 3G wideband audio, and it works really well, and I suspect even with VoLTE the quality may be technically slightly better but it won't be noticeable. "SuperVoice" is stupid marketing.

Wasnt there talk about EE to Three (3g?) cross network wideband audio being enabled at some point? What's happened to that?

3 has it too, and have done for years. For some reason they don't do it on calls to/from phone that are on a Home Signal box, though.

I guess in 3's case, "super" refers to reception and not quality. If the 800MHz coverage wasn't a myth, and they let more than two models of phone use it, then I'm sure it's quite good

Maybe with the net full of unhappy people who got their letters saying they're about to pay double next month (yes, it's not just me!), Three wants to steer discussions to more positive things.

How ironic that these texts are just annoying customers too, as Supervoice is something that so few people can actually use anyway.

3 has really missed a trick by not waiting until their 4G network is actually usable and plentiful before hiking prices and reducing value. They'll keep telling you how "4G is at no extra cost" though, and it shows

Will Three ever update the G4 to Marshmallow?

Today I've had some laughable chats with Three.

First, I commented on their claim that they haven't raised any tariffs, which might be technically true but for me, I'm paying £30 for an equivalent tariff to my £15 one. To me that's a price rise.

They then pointed out things like Feel at Home and 4G at no extra cost, to which I replied that I already get that on the One Plan so how was that relevant, and asked them to say something I'll get that's 'new'.

I was told I get the unlimited calls and texts, to which I pointed out that my usage - like pretty much everyone these days - doesn't require unlimited calls or texts.

You get the picture. Three obviously has to make more profit - it's an order from above.

The changes have already seen some key members of staff leave (at least one to EE, certainly not the first to do so either) and whoever is left clearly has a tough job, and boy has the company made some monumental errors of judgement recently.

Interesting... I think they are clearly taking a hard line, yet when you weren't in the letter window they were more flexible.

I'm wondering now whether to either take a punt on
- rolling onto the £30 plan for a month and/or then
- switch to the £23 ayce plan

and then try asking for a pac code a few weeks in since both are 1m contracts. Perhaps their inflexibility ruling then would be nullified by the switch

the £20 ayce 12m is the best option of course if I stayed on three

Quick question. Can I buy an LG G4C unlocked and flash it to 3 firmware for VOIP? Need to ditch VOD as I can't top up. I mean I just can't. It won't let me. So moving main number to 321 PAYG until iPhone 7 comes out then probably contract with EE ( maybe cheaper 6S if 7 is underwhelming). In touch is OK and I can cope with a cheap phone until then. So 3 will do for a while but would like to have at least the option of 800, however flaky.

Thanks. Not idea what that is so maybe just spend a bit more on an iPhone 6 and get more back when I sell.

The fact that they had to set up a separate team in Glasgow to manage this whole situation before it even started says it all.

They knew exactly what they were doing and they knew exactly what would happen.

At the end of the day they've made a decision to do something unethical in my opinion and it's setting a dangerous precedent for the Mobile industry in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised if other networks start following suit in the future whenever they want to discontinue something now.

Yes, as you say the order came above. There once was a time when Three were a huge positive in the UK, now they just want to be like the rest. In fact they've even said as much.

I'm totally on board with this being a crappy thing to do, but 'unethical' is pushing the hyperbole a bit for me.
