No, Three lifted the cap earlier this year. Don't think the website has been updated to reflect that though.
Still, for some time, I find it hard to get much more than 20-25Mbps on Three 4G and if I do, I think I should be rather amazed, as things have slowed down a lot this year. Hitchin is one place where I can pretty much get 50-60Mbps almost every time. Goodness knows why it's just there, but I guess I've found the right place to stand (not far from the Waitrose car park for anyone that knows the area). Elsewhere, it's 5-10Mbps tops, and often a bit higher (downlink) if I drop to 3G. |

For anyone who's interested three have just installed 2 new cabinets at the mbnl site on Whitchurch drive in the shawburch area of Telford in Shropshire, https://www.dropbox.com/s/2whsd83apk...13.54.jpg?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kzr0sk6xzo...14.03.jpg?dl=0 Complete with skip.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ibqninewfs...81200.jpg?dl=0 As the site was before installation (not a lot different) Mast is due to be changed in a few weeks and when I saw the plans online which I can't find now it listed 1800mhz & 800mhz and a additional microwave dish. The 1800mhz 4G alone will get out quite far unless they cripple it somehow as it's at the very edge of town and lots of flat countryside around there so the 800mhz could be brilliant.. It would be nice to hope the microwave dish is to serve the mast further into the countryside which only gives 0.2mbps 3g speed at best, but it's more likely just a replacement of the one on the old mast.. Good to see stuff happening here! Vodafone but the area soon. Some real 4g coverage competition for EE & the in the town then.. |

Think Three may be testing 800MHz in my area. Three 4G is showing up on a network scan in an area of my home where only 900MHz 2G gets to (no 900MHz 3G around here yet).
Will order a 3 PAYG SIM to confirm. |

800MHz may be the only way I'm getting 4g at my house for the time being, my normal mast is very lightly used on all sectors covering a small area despite the fact it's a big tall Ericsson Orange one. I can pick up 800 now but I bet that 3G from my mast will become even faster when it launches, it'll be so congested the 800 round here.

Only thing I'd say is I was convinced I had 800mhz in my house just over a week ago as I get little or no 3g signal downstairs and about 99db upstairs, even outside struggles to get 1 bar, yet I now get 4G in most places inside, no bars and not very responsive as it's 126db but it's there, about the same level as Vodafone 800mhz which also comes from Crewe, but it is 1800mhz 4G, and checking the updated coverage map I'm about 2 or 3 times outside the maximum coverage area.
Also got 4G yesterday morning in a very random place on the way to work, miles from any 4G and hardly any 3g signal at all due to the geographical location (in a dip in amongst trees) a mast in Shrewsbury has gone live but that was 15-20 miles away with land inbetween. |

Is the output power going to be higher at launch on 800MHz?

I thought it was being restricted to VoLTE only so they could run it at maximum power?

In the meantime, 4G Rollout from 3 seems to have ground to a complete halt in Cheshire and large parts of Shropshire, and North Wales?, well it never even seems to have even started!

Was in Hull a week or two ago. I'm guessing by the appearance of 4G, they're not relying on two microwave inks to beam all the data south of the Humber any more.
www.roadworks.org They've just finished laying parts of it in the Cottingham Center. |

http://s11.postimg.org/p3hdheyjn/rsz_14g.jpg Which if people are correct in the end will go 2g/4g with EE. Of course all that talk of being done this year is clearly out the window as no sign of EE doing any in Staffs at the moment. |

Yeah, I've seen a lot of roadworks in Hull for cityfibre and read quite a lot about the EE/3's use of their services for backhaul. Still the complete reliance on microwave when I was there was quite curious; I can't see it being 'fixed' overnight. I mean speeds were OK, maybe 6-7mbps average for EE and Voda and 3mbps on 3.

Can't work three of sometimes....
4g mast I pass by on my way home from work normally heavily used due it's location near houses and trying to cover an area also served by a very poor 3g mast at Ketley in Telford, general speeds are anywhere between 3mbps and 15mbps during daytime hours due to the load, yesterday while at traffic lights, did a speed test and got 68mbps! Where did that come from? |

Does anyone know where Three's results are, I thought they were due out Friday. Another of the famous Three delays?
They would have been reported at the end of July under the old structure but they are delayed for now because of the reorganisation at Three's parent (Hutchison Whampoa is now effectively defunct). Three have said though that we'll get 98% of the results by the end of the year

Sorry that was probably my fault for suggesting they would be reporting. That was never actually going to be the case. In my defence, I was already in holiday mode.

No progress on 3O2 from a regulatory point of view as the parties haven't submitted any details of the merger to the authorities (EC) so they haven't started examining it yet.

Driving along the M1 today, pretty good Three coverage all the way down, quite a bit of 4G. Drove past this site (https://goo.gl/maps/0BeUH) noticed it had the large Three Samsung cab installed but wasn't broadcasting 4G. Does 800MHz use the same cabs?
Also went to Watford and got an amazing speedtest result on Three, the best I've seen: http://i.imgur.com/UPhteL1.png |

Motorway masts are great for maxing out the speed test, if you get the right one, whilst some have really crappie backhaul links other are really excellent and often don't serve many people other then those passing on the road. Had some of my best speed test results on the motorway, mostly only ever 3g as I've not seem much 4g probably as I'm normally streaming the radio or Spotify.

LTE now seems to be in at least a part of Bodmin. The glacial page of 3 4G in Cornwall continues
