The way Three is doing things is actually quite good, even if it can be considered a bit of a bodge. It does mean a lot more users can benefit from 800 than having to buy a phone with the correct settings. It sorts out all those users who bought a SIM-free phone too.

But once Google pulls its finger out and hopefully implements OTA carrier settings like Apple, everyone can move to that.

Can you get SuperVoice on ID mobile if you have a compatible device?

(Sorry if already discussed, the thread is massive).

No, and no inTouch app either.

Your handset model still has to be supported though right, or do you think they are going to allow all Android handsets? I have the LG v10 and no sign of InTouch allowing me on yet.

inTouch 800MHz isn't going to be made available generally until March according to Three's website. Until then, TinT will only add WiFi calling.

As far as I can tell from what people have said and how things look, once Three turn on the ability for TinT to use mobile data for calls. as well as being able to use data from WiFi for calls as it already does, then whilst TinT is running, the phone will be allowed to connect to 4G800 for data as well as for calls through inTouch using that 4G800 connection.

That's because it will meet the requirement of the phone being able to make emergency calls whenever there is a mobile signal (TinT is already able to make an emergency call over WiFi), even if your phone is not VoLTE capable, as TinT does the job of handling the voice-codec stuff needed to make voice-calls using straightforward internet connection.

Fair enough, thanks for the info. If Three are saying March I'll expect it in June / July time then

Well MM for the G4 was released early december, it's now nearly march and Three still hasn't released MM for their G4 firmware. Their twitter seems clueless as to where it is (i could have sworn they used to be able to check).

What the hell? I don't believe? What is this crazy fool network?

OK. I've got an obscure android phone and a 3 sim on 123. Works well and Tint works well for me once you get used to how to use it. Considering switching my main number over to it. I'll go on contract if the iPhone 7 is good but for now need something cheap that works.

TinT is now saying wifi calling available rather than the green and blue lights. What's the difference? Does it work over 4G1800? Or 4G800. I'm afraid I'm rather dim so you'll have to spell it out in words of less than one syllable so I understand it. Is there any hope that I can use my crappy Chinese phone on 4G800 with TIT anytime soon? I was considering putting another phone over to 3 PAYG until later in the year but will I just be left with a pair of useless TiTs?

Does anyone have the email address of the purple puppet so I can ask him / her / it about my TiT issue?

It has been doing that for a while. You can't use it on 4G at the moment unless you're one of the "chosen few" who have been asked to trial it. Whether it will work on any 4G800 device remains to be seen

Watching this thread with interest. I also have an imported Chinese phone which has the ability to connect to 800MHZ 4G. My local area has recently had an upgrade to 4G, must be on the 800MHZ because my phone is still only showing 3G out and about.

Have I interpreted this correct? My phone 'may' be able to connect using the TinT app once the new version comes out next month? Even though my phone has no voLTE capability?

Cheers Moox. My phone (ZTE) does connect to 800 4G. It shows on the signal indicator if I set it to LTE only. But vanishes if I try to make a call. I know for sure that it's 800 through a tracker app and also it's not 1800 on the map. I wonder if it will work out of the box. If it did, it might be OK. The app works fine on my phone for calls etc. No issues with it at all. Obviously native is better but then 321 is mega cheap for what I need.

Anyone know the quickest way to speak/email with someone at 3 who knows anything?

Anybody I've spoken to on 333, live chat or email has had no clue what I'm talking about. It's a complicated issue, I'm betting advisors in the UK would have trouble understanding it, so the poor people I'm talking to in Asia have absolutely no idea and keep telling me to turn my phone off and on again, I want someone knowledgeable!

If you've tried and failed with CS you could email executive.office at three.co.uk

The purpose of call-centre staff is to deal with problems like "my phone isn't working right", or "I want to switch tariffs", or "I can get a much better deal by moving to another operator and I'd like my PAC code please". The probability of talking to someone you could reach via a call-centre who can provide more help about anything more than slightly introductory-level technical than you will find here is probably near enough nil.

Even if there are some guys manning the phones with additional knowledge well beyond that which is required, they're probably not allowed to divulge it (this call *will* be recorded for quality improvement purposes and to check our people answering the phones are sticking to their exact script we've told them to use).

I reckon the best option this month is to wait and see if the TinT app brings forth the glorious future suggested where 4G800 is made available to everyone (with a compatible Android phone, Apple iOS doesn't allow this workaround) where we get a mobile signal over a much wider area. Except of course where there is a borderline unusable 3G signal, it can and will use instead.

They may be improving the hand over levels. In my area this hasn't been an issue for some time (since Xmas). I no longer stay on an unusable 3g signal, instead getting solid service from 4G800 with VoLTE.

The 3G signal is still there and used by my Nexus 5 (though calls break up away from the front of the building). The Sony z5c never shows 3G now at home.

Three have returned to Cornwall.

There's quite a lot more 4G coverage on the A30 between Bodmin and Fraddon, and Truro city centre now appears to have much more 4G than it did a couple of weeks ago

I'm guessing it's 1800 but my phone doesn't tell me.

Unfortunately the village I live in has missed out on this fun

So have 3 rolled out any more 800 in the last month or so or is that it? If they did my mast I might switch my main number to them for a bit.

It'll just be ongoing forever quarter by quarter rolling upgrades, rather than the big bang approach.

Is it possible my Samsung S6 could of roamed over onto Threes 800mhz? I force 4g and I only usually get 1 bar of 4g but for a few seconds had 3 bars

It wouldn't be roaming if you're already a Three customer as technically, roaming is the term for using another network's services.

The issue is whether you'll be allowed access on to 800Mhz, and there's 3 things you need to be allowed access:

1) A phone purchased from Three or running Three firmware *
2) A supported phone model *
3) In an 800Mhz coverage area

You can check the map to see if you're in the 800 coverage area, you can check the Three site to see if your phone is supported.

* Soon it is expected that ThreeinTouch will enable access to 800, this is designed for those that didn't get their phone from Three, however we don't know yet whether this will work on all phones, eg if you buy a little known Android from China, or like me you've got a less common model like the LG V10.

New status message has appeared for my postcode that I've not seen mentioned here before.

We're aware there's been a network problem in your area for some time. We're really sorry if your services are affected – we're doing all we can to fix it.

The nature of this problem means we need to work with another company which makes solving it more complex. Rest assured, we're pushing them to help us as soon as they can.

Would that other company be EE?

Maybe MBNL and something the two companies share via it?

Unrelated, but it looks like 3 have changed the coverage checker again, as neither the LG or Google Nexus 5s say they can do supervoice now

Yeah I noticed that the other day. No devices have TINT=True anymore either.

That's not encouraging.

What about the people on the trials of TinT 800/SuperVoice? Are they subject to some sort of confidentiality clause?

I get this message from them too. I guess it could be MBNL, backhaul provider or power company. It changed to this from a more generic message a couple of months ago. The previous message had been in place for about 12 months, so I wouldn't expect a quick fix!
