Could someone please explain what this update will bring

I'm an iPhone 6s+ user

I don't think there's any improvement for iPhone users as you already get 800Mhz / VoLTE. This is an Android thing really as it's about non Three branded firmware or devices that aren't on the currently supported device list for native 800Mhz VoLTE support.

Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately the invites are linked to a Play account. I guess the rest of us will have to wait a little while.

Happy beta testing guys, please do report back with how you're getting on.

Just got my invite this evening, but so far have been in 3G coverage so I can't comment! Once I have anything, I'll let you know.

Just got the update downloaded after clicking the email link and I'm happy to say it works Just gone into the toilets at work where 3G is very patchy and I'm now on 4G. I've just ran a speed test and got 9.81 down and 2.25 up. Happy with that in a poor signal area. Calls seem to work fine too and you can dial through the phone as normal and the screen changes to the in touch calling as it does when on WiFi. Very happy with it so far!

Likewise - I was driving through a poor 3G coverage area and the app kicked in showing 4 bars of 4G LTE strength and the icon changed as well.

I made a 15 minute call which was of good quality for a VOIP call, and was pleased that when I went back into a strong 3G area, there was a nearly seamless handover to 3G to continue the call. Even better, as I drove further there was again a nearly seamless handover back to 4G calling!

Well chuffed!

This will be fantastic for people with Android phones which aren't Three carrier software. I should imagine that is quite a lot of people.

It's going to be fantastic for loads of people, but even more so if they change the priorities.

Does the beta app only give you access to 800MHz if you have a phone that's been whitelisted for SuperVoice? I have a Nexus 5X which isn't even sold by Three, have been given access to the beta app yet still don't seem to be getting access to 800MHz. What phones do people that have connected through the app have?

No - I have an unbranded HTC One M8 which isn't one of the listed Super Voice phones. Don't forget the app only kicks in when there is no 3G - if you have coverage you won't go to 800MHz.

Sorry to mention toilets again but I just got home and in my bathroom where I had patchy 3G but still had a signal most of the time, I now get 4G so I believe it'll go to 800 mhz even if you have a weak 3G signal. 17 down and 2 up. Very happy with this. I'll be walking the dogs soon and I'm fairly confident that I'll get 4G where the blackspots usually are, even with all the hills nearby blocking Beacon Hills 800mhz transmitter. I'll let you all know. Feeling very fortunate today

I'm using a Sony Z3 btw.

Sounds promising. Hopefully the new TinT app version really will be generally released this week before Easter weekend.

What is the version number of the new app (the current one for non-beta testers is v4.9.5)?

Given that only registered beta testers can download it from the Play Store, would it be possible to upload the .apk file of it somewhere? Presumably the app itself doesn't check if you are a beta-tester also, just verifies that you are a Three customer.

Thanks for your response. Yeah, my phone went to no-signal today on the outskirts of Coventry, somewhere that I'm sure (and at least according to the coverage checker) is awash with 800MHz coverage. I'll see what happens when I return through it this evening.

I'm not sure about the last question but the version I'm using is 5.1.8

I like to refer to 800mhz as the "reserve" network for now.

Anyone with the new TinT app want to try backing it up and sharing the apk?
I've used APK Backup before and it seemed good
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tam.appsbackup
Assuming that it's also not 3 account specific/limited too (just play store email address limited)

I'm also interest in the trial if someone is willing to forward details!

I think I would be interested in decompiling the APK like those APK teardowns they do on android police.

I also thought I would call Three and ask if they were even aware of this beta because why not and I could get an invite as well. Obviously it depends on the person you got, but I wasn't surprised that he had no idea of the beta. I then for some reason got transferred to the complaints department where I had a rude Scottish woman. She kept asking where I heard this and of course I didn't want to say a forum.

I know you can get some people that do have a clue as I remember they told me there were going to launch VoLTE in September 2015 in December 2014. And also that they would be getting the Three InTouch app to work with VoLTE. Some even tell me the site references of the masts which have problems which I can then find on Ofcom's sitefinder.

Has anyone got hold of the APK?

I'm presuming that everyone who has the beta is under an NDA and (rightfully) unwilling to break that - it was worth a shot.

I doubt it, play store accounts were just chosen at random and it should be coming out for everyone else pretty soon, it's not really sensitive or anything.

I have been part of other trial rollouts before (most recently Moto G 4G rollout of Lollipop) and had to accept a disclaimer/NDA saying not to share the system updates etc with others. I think it's pretty standard working practice.

I've signed loads of NDAs over the years but I am on the Three Beta trial (not inTouch, but their new 'My3' mobile app) and don't recall it having any requirement to keep quiet about it. It's run the same way, and you can discuss things via a G+ discussion.

I have no idea when it will go public and don't really care as it looks a lot more professional, but doesn't do much more otherwise.

I would much rather have inTouch but wasn't invited to test it, and under the circumstances I don't think I'd get very far asking Three if they'd let me on.

I'm not on an NDA as I was chosen randomly (I think), but as far as I can see the beta participation is linked to my account, so ripping the app isn't going to help.

Sorry!
