But surely there will come a time it has to do the more difficult ones?

At home, EE has done more sites nearby so 4G is pretty much continuous everywhere. Such a difference! Especially as it will now go back to 4G during data transfers so not get stuck on 3G if you're streaming.”

What would you class as difficult? 47meters up a electricity pylon?

Pretty sure pylons are difficult ones to change.

Having a look at a recent CTIL/MBNL planning application for a mast upgrade, some of the objections are pretty hilarious.

http://edm.conwy.gov.uk/Planning/lg/...&viewdocs=true

Apparently it caused problems with someones car immobiliser! Utter rubbish, it's also apparently going to affect children at a nearby school due to the "electromagnetic affects of the radio waves". It'll end up being approved anyway but still pretty entertaining.

I'm sure they'll be the first ones to complain when they have no/poor mobile phone service!

Yes that was amusing. I always picture Nimby garbing mobile phone to complain to the council in the strongest terms only to discover it has no signal. Then starts moaning about the lack of signal but hasn't quite figured out why....

Where is the I want great infrastructure attitude? They do the same when BT put up new fibre cabinets then moan about the slow broadband

They don't even bother me in the slightest, put it in my back yard for all i care. I could do with better phone signal anyway.

Around here, usually the serial complainers are of an age / lifestyle where they don't own a mobile phone, or if they do, their light requirements only need 2G.

Which is probably why 3 & EE aren't bothering with 4G coverage here

We had a wannabe councillor who did get elected promising people that he'd get unsightly base stations taken down. He also promised other things he had no power over whatsoever.

I assume he now blames central Government for not letting him force networks to remove poles and cabinets, or relocate them in more hidden locations where they'd be less effective, or possibly away from the necessary back haul fibre..

Local politics, you can't beat it. We've had a few dodgy councillors round here but some of them are really dedicated. But mobile masts are such a petty thing to get elected on, people don't want to believe that they're safe and the monopoles are pretty discreet. I admit some of the old 20m ones aren't that pretty but in the grand scheme of things pretty unimportant. I think a lot of the groups against masts, typically mostly elderly people just use them as an excuse to do something, I'm trying to sound nice here but that sounds harsh haha.

The opposition brigade make me laugh - they're often the same people who believe in chemtrails and every cancer-causing sausage in the Daily Mail. Bizarrely, they're often also anti-fracking zealots who would welcome the installation of a wind turbine - until the lights went out....

Just received this notification on my Nexus 5, using TinT app 5.1.8. It states that I will be able to use the app to use 4G Super Voice from tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted!

Looks like i'll be ditching the stock LG ROM tomorrow then! Fed up of being stuck on Lollipop.

I haven't had that message. Maybe they're making it public, but like the original 4G rollout, turning small groups of people on at a time

I had the same message appear on my Z1 Compact this morning too.

Doesn't mention anything about data use though, only 4G calling...

If it lets you onto the 800 network for calling then it has to use data for VoLTE, it goes over a seperate APN so they could allow only that but they'll probably let it all, but it shows how they market it, the 4G800 layer is being marketed as a last resort for calls and texts only.

If anyone from Three / whatever the company that makes the app is called, please include the LG V10, no message for me so far.

That may be true for real VoLTE, but I don't think TinT necessarily has the capability to use multiple APNs for separate data and voice.

Data certainly worked when I briefly had TinT over 4G

I have a Nexus 5 and haven't got the message, and since someone else with a Nexus 5 seems to have got it, perhaps the device isn't the reason why not

That gives me hope I suppose (you need that in buckets to be on Three).

Yeah you're right forgot about that.

Well I tried TinT today and no 4G thing came up immediately.

So I closed the app, deleted the user data in android settings, got it to reprovision, and got the familiar "restart your phone to complete the process"

Rebooted, forced my phone to LTE only and I get 800Mhz and 4G calling again.

For some reason I can't copy the device list, but it's limited LGs and Sony's for Three inTouch over 800 as of now.
Unfortunately neither the V10 or G4 are supported yet.

Surely if you have an LG G4 you can root using the Ubuntu method which does not unlock your bootloader and add the the carrier files to use 800MHz and VoLTE. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...8&postcount=14

You could technically try root the V10 and add the carrier files.

I didn't realise you could add the carrier files to any ROM, thought you still had to be using the Three one?
Still, no help for those who wanted a quick and easy solution via Three inTouch.

Three inTouch won't hand a call over from 4G800 to WiFi, the call will continue over 800 once the phone has connected to WiFi.
Tested on a Nexus 5.

I'm not saying it works. I'm saying it could be possible.
