Don't worry too much about Super Voice. VoLTE is rolling out nicely on EE and that's for ALL l 4G bands.. So when 800 is switched on it's going to be a real game changer.
And your phone will be ready, either now or with an update. |

The worst thing about it all was trying to get my PAC code. I know their job is to try and make us stay but it took me two separate calls and some serious stating of the Ofcom rules for me to get it. Really wasn’t a nice experience at all. So far at least, I’m glad to be rid! |

After much debate I decided to leave three and got an s7 edge yesterday from CPW on EE . The deal I got is cheaper than I could get on three despite being with them for 5 years. In the past I was happy to accept the slightly dodgy coverage in places for the fact that I was getting lots of data at decent speed for less money. However now it just doesn’t make sense to pay more than the other providers.
Since yesterday I have barely seen my phone not have a 4g signal on EE yet on three I barely saw it with one, and that’s despite the coverage maps showing I should have access to 4g. I considered the improvements super voice might give but felt in the end it was too much of a gamble to sign into another 2 year contract for. After all three said my town would get 4g over a year ago and it still isn’t really covered so I just can’t believe them! The worst thing about it all was trying to get my PAC code. I know their job is to try and make us stay but it took me two separate calls and some serious stating of the Ofcom rules for me to get it. Really wasn’t a nice experience at all. So far at least, I’m glad to be rid! The next day I did an online chat with 3 and within 5 minutes I had a PAC code, no script, no hassle, no fuss the way it should be. |

This is something that needs to be dealt with, Three are abysmal at listening when you ask for a PAC, this is a prime example of why it should become compulsory that a web based or automated phone system be imposed to request a PAC from all networks (something like Giffgaff use).

Why not show the PAC code on your online account, so you can see it at any time (once out of contract)? It doesn't do anything until you use it.

I don't like that idea Jon for security. If your online account password were compromised then a fraudster could use that to transfer your number and then assuming you also had you bank / email account stolen (keylogger / trojan) they would then be able to use SMS for the 2nd factor and empty your account.
The PAC is only meant to be valid for 30 days, you must still have to request it and via a secure method with telephone password or passcode given etc. |

Fair point. Maybe you'd still need to ask for it, and pass a new security test, but still get it there and then. Of course, online accounts should all be very secure with two stage authentication etc.
Just like, erm, well, oh. |

It is ludicrous that in a world where we can do so much stuff automated over the internet / phone that we have the pain getting a PAC can be. |

Certainly when I got mine from Three, ignoring the pain in the backside part of actually getting them to give me it (which I guess in itself would deter a scammer lol), the only security I went through was phone number, name and address. Not exactly that secure.

Boy in my work has the Samsung s7 and has been picking up 4g of late.
Trouble is, there is not meant to be any. The only transmitter I can think of would be the Lewis one (isle of) and that it is 800mhz coming 40+ miles over the Minch. He won't let me play about with the phone

When I eventually got my PAC from EE, they keep texting you asking you to come back. No chance.

Does anyone know if EE and 3 are still sharing sites?
A replacement site has been installed in my area - over 2 years after the old one was switched off. A planning application on a nearby lamp post was dated 2013 (EE and H3G joint application) and one of the cabinets has a sticker showing the electricity was cut off in August of the same year. What took them so long? The old cabinets are labelled as belonging to "Orange", no identification on the new cabinets (one is marked 230 volts). |

I'm going to wait and see if they come back with any better offer as I don't have to use the PAC. The main sticking point for me is that even if I choose the £20 option on then I have to sign a new 12 month contract, which I don't really want to do, or it's £23 for 1 month, but I'm in on a rolling month by month at the moment as I'm out of contract. I think TBH I'd be ok on the 200 mins / unlimited / 20GB tethering but making me sign up for a year now is the tipping point. |

I got 30 days. I may live to regret that (as in they might seek to change me again within a year), although since getting a VF SIM and now an EE one, I am actually at the point where I begin to think I could perhaps leave Three for a bit, and just see what happens in the future. I have a collective 36GB of data (all tetherable), plus 15GB on a MBB SIM.
It's not as if I need unlimited right now, but like many I am thinking I might in the future. I suspect if I wanted to come back, I'd risk there being no AYCE plan for new customers, or the 30GB plan having risen to £35 a month on SIM only or something mad. |

Took my LG G3 which was solely used as an alarm and put my three sim in it, installed three intouch, forced LTE only and bam, volte works perfectly. I have the intouch app also on my S6 but volte doesn't work at all, and since I updated to marshmallow neither does using data only on the 800mhz
now I'm tied between do I switch back to the G3 as my daily driver or just stick with the S6. 3G is pretty slow at work and I know there is good 800mhz 4G coverage. Decisions decisions! And it also baffles me that the older G3 gets volte and band 20 access before the S6 does!

Doesn't the Three branded S6 have native support? Just flash that and you should be good to go.

I got my S6 from Argos. Have tried flashing the three firmware and it always fails, that's one of the reasons I had to update to 6.0 as I had to re flash it with the btu firmware

A quick question on TinT. Quite often when I click the power button to wake up my phone, TinT is in the notification bars and it goes immediately to 'Registering' and then to 'wifi calling available'. Does this mean that previous to this it had gone to sleep? Do I need to select the keep alive option on it?

Stupid question do all 3 customers have to use the TiT app to get VoLTE? Or is it for phones which don't support it natively?

I have a suspicion that the app will be pinged occasionally to see if the device is still eligible for 800mhz so if the app is closed it will no longer work, judging by the way Three have worded it on the 3iT Web page. If the device supports it natively then you would only use the app for wifi networks. If I'm being pedantic it would technically be VoIP rather than VOLTE, I think. |

If you have an approved handset (or an iPhone) you wouldn't need inTouch, you'll be able to use it "natively". It'll probably be a better experience, too Quote:

It's a shame inTouch can't be set to work with phones that can have native support if you have the Three version, and have done the update. Those who have a SIM free Xperia Z5 or Galaxy S6 are basically out of luck without changing ROM. inTouch would be a much easier 'workaround'. |

You can see by going to the Three coverage checker and entering your phone. It will say if it's compatible with VoLTe (Super Voice), perhaps with a software update, compatible via inTouch, or not compatible at all.
