Currently in a battle with Three about long-term congestion in a large area on my commute. It seems to be happening on a particular mast that covers quite a large area. It's covered by other masts also but i always seem to end up on the congested one.

Three's Indian networking team have looked into it. He did have a check of all the masts covering the area i quoted and he could see one particular mast that was badly congested, he said that congestion isn't considered a priority and i shouldn't expect it to be fixed for at least 3 - 6 months. He has since forwarded the complaint to Three's "customer relations" team based in the UK as there was little more he could do than offer to transfer me to that team as i said i wasn't happy with being told 3 - 6 months for a fix since i was told this when i complained about the same issue in December.

Rollout in Hampshire seems to be gathering pace.
4G has been enabled in the centre of Hedge End but just falls short of my house.
I get 4G when going under the bridge at J4 M27
It's also been switched back on in Fareham.

So the call back that i was promised by Three hasn't happened. They promised to call back early afternoon today. I shouldn't be surprised really.

Not this again Benny we've had a running commentary on this for months, most people on the forum agreed that it is unreasonable to expect a perfect data service in every area on a mobile / radio based system and that there are spots on all networks where speeds may slow down.

I would suggest you change networks to be honest, as months and months of consistently raising complaints may get you nowhere, although I suspect you'll come across an area nearby on every network where there's a similar scenario.

I would 2nd this.

It's exactly why I left Vodafone after many years as they would not accept that there was very slow data when it should have been fast and always use to in my town (use to get at least 3meg until they launched 4G and then it went down to .1meg).

I felt there was no use in getting myself stressed so just left for Three and I must admit I've been happy with them (maybe not the fastest speeds, but at least 3meg everywhere I go which is fast enough for streaming Internet radio in my car.

Went to Costco this morning in Westhill, Aberdeenshire and noticed that I now had 4G (on Three). Did a speed test and got this back:

92.54Mbps down, 32.30Mbps up

Can't knock that! I think the mast was just a couple of hundred metres away though.

Still only get 3G in Banchory, and pretty much nothing at all if you drive further west into the countryside.

iPhone 8,4 aka iPhone SE. Is that the first one on the forum?

I tested 800mhz 4g on three the other day and only one 800mhz mast here could receive and transmit data and make a volte call 14 miles away from it outdoors with line of site,

How long does it usually take to update the coverage map?

TrafficSense is in use for PAYG and pay monthly. There's no actual speed capping though.

Anyone figured out how long 3iT can be closed before unprovisining 800?

My local mast has had some nice backhaul improvements over the last few weeks and has gone from super congested 3G (average of 2Mbps, max of about 5Mbps, and other times completely unusable, even for texts/calls) to the full U21, L08, and L18 at very respectable speeds.

Managed to get 60Mbps today in Plymouth. This is a personal best, as I've never managed to get spectacular speeds on 3's 4G - whether in a rural area or a city centre.

Three map updated today.

I think it's been a while as round me there are loads of new 4G places showing.

Hi all

I have been searching the internet for any information about this, but I haven't really been able to find anything definitive.

Basically I imported the Note 5 (N920C model) as it wasn't released in Europe. This model supports all the necessary bands for Three's 4G, but obviously cannot install a Three branded firmware on this device as it wasn't released in Europe. I am wondering whether this phone will be able to access B20 800MHZ 4G with Three, or is this only accessible via their own firmware or through supported phones?

I have accepted that I will probably never get VOLTE on this device, but being able to use B20 for indoor performance is really important to me. As a side note, I very rarely get 1 bar of 4G inside my house, it almost always is on H+. However, yesterday for a brief moment I got full bars 4G, and a quick speed test showed around 25 down and a very low ping (it is usually around 10mbps with a much higher ping on 1 bar 4G and around the same on H+). This connection was lost as soon as I moved my phone ever so slightly. All seemed rather dramatic for barely any movement. I was wondering if this was something to do with my phone briefly connecting to B20 and then was quickly thrown back off? Or whether Three are in the process of introducing B20 to my area?

Sorry for the lost post, just really worried if my phone will never be able to use this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know anything about that phone, but try installing the inTouch app. It allows some android devices to access band 20 (after a restart), including my Xperia Z2. Someone will come along and tell me your phone isn't supported, but it's worth a try as I don't know what's supported and what's not.

So here's a weird thing today.

I got into a conversation with Three about VoLTE/Super Voice and inTouch, asking if it would be coming to the Honor 7, Honor 5X and Huawei P9.

I then get a reply, by private message, saying that they cannot support phones they don't sell.

So I replied that they do actually sell all of these phones!

Then I get told that they would have to be bought from Three, not SIM-free, but didn't answer my question about whether they'd actually get support for VoLTE.

So I asked again, and then got told that as they're all dual-SIM (the P9 actually isn't here FWIW) inTouch can't be used.

In the end, I never got answer about whether these and some other phones sold by Three will ever get native VoLTE support and now I'm confused as to why inTouch can't work on a dual SIM phone. I've used it on a dual SIM Honor, albeit not with the 4G calling bit....

So what now for Three? I've not seen anything about an appeal RE the merger, no announcement from Three basically saying they accept it and a plan for the future (cue coverage targets, reliability etc etc). Nothing. No response and where they are at the moment (have you seen the latest Root Metrics report - lots of last places for Three) and how much their competitors are improving don't bode well. I'll stick with them for the moment but will probably jump ship in September with iPhone 7.

Got a text from Three today saying my LG G4 has a software update to enable Super Voice - thing is it's not a native Three-firmware G4, so I can't find the update.

Did anyone else get this? Has anyone seen an update?

Fingers crossed it's the MM update too.
