I've put my Three SIM in my H7 so will see if I get a text. It will be based on them detecting the phone, so I wonder if they've just jumped the gun - or it's a mistake.

I hope it's the former, as I'd like both the H7 and 5X, and indeed the 5C that will be coming in August, to be compatible.

VoLTE support is so messy right now. At least some manufacturers are getting their **** together, but boy is it a slow process.

If they could just install some transmitters in the West Country so I at least have some internet signal when I go on holiday . . . . . that would be great.

That's a big place, where abouts were you?

I've never had a big issue with 3 coverage in the SW.

What 3? It's certainly in the top 2 down here. Possibly as good as EE if you are happy with 3G which works very well at the moment. I have zero complaints about 3's data coverage in the SW. It's excellent. If they could get the phone to ring in my pocket, that would be good too..........

Just did a factory reset on the H7 and inTouch still doesn't work - just force quits every time.

As an unbranded S7 Edge owner on Three, I can confirm that - it definitely DOES work, and work consistently, on that device.

Can also confirm that my S7 can connect to VoLTE on Three. Sim free. Although it latches onto 1800mhz most of the time.

Looks like VoLTE info for Three was included in the BTU CSC file starting with the APD3 firmware update in April along with EE WiFi Calling.

I have just flashed 3 firmware to my Galaxy S6 and can get Super Voice as I made a call on 4G however the signal strength is 1 bar at home, the same as I get connecting to 1800mhz 4G

Hi I'm wondering why 3 aren't using the extra 5mhz of 2100 they have for 4G would it not make sense to rollout and possibly CA with 1800. They have said recently and quite loudly they need more spectrum and for ofcom to kind of favour them in the next round?

Even if it wasn't CA'd 25-30mb speeds are a great boost and of course the extra capacity.

I am correct they have 2x15 @2100 aren't I?

@MatthiasSchilf @FortKnox I've also got an unbranded S7 Edge on (i think) the latest firmware - it shows "current version G935FXXU1APF2/ G935FXEU1APF2/G935FXXU1APEQ" when I check for software updates.

I have the "VoLTE Call" setting enabled under Settings -> Mobile Networks
and my home address is, according to Three, in a "supervoice enabled area"... I even see the VoLTE logo pop up briefly in the notification bar after every reboot - whilst I'm still in that VoLTE location - but then it goes away so I assume it's turning off?

Any thoughts? I assume that the VoLTE notification icon should remain present whenever it's working to signify normal operation?

Do you normally have signal in this location. It will only be connected to VoLTE if you have no other signal available. Three have configured priority so 4G800 is used as a last resort.

Interesting, yes I do have signal at my home location but could you elaborate plz? (probably being thick and not had enough coffee yet)

Are you saying that VoLTE will connect (and display the icon) when the signal icon itself shows no bars and/or displays the "no entry" icon?

I did notice at my mum's place out in the sticks a few weeks ago, where there was no signal whatsoever, that the VoLTE icon appeared and stayed on but I tried making a call and it wouldn't connect..

**Edit** and I assume conditions have to be that the area itself must have VoLTE infrastructure even if I can't get "normal" signal.. as opposed to areas with no support and no signal (in which case I wouldn't see any logo and I'd still have no bars - which happens quite a lot I guess with only 60-odd % national coverage so far?)

On 3, VoLTE is only live on the 4G800 band (ie 4G Supervoice). This is only available when you cannot get the usual 4G or 3G as 3 have prioritised signal to be 4G1800>3G2100>4G800.

VoLTE only works in areas that have 800MHz 4G *and* if you can't get a signal on 3G or 1800MHz 4G. That's typically rural areas but not always.

VoLTE should work on a SIM free S7 with 3. My brother has one and VoLTE has been working fine for months.

Just got an update for the Honor 7 and no VoLTE support. Three inTouch now works, but 4G calling doesn't feature.

My local mast has FINALLY been upgraded to 4G, seems to be putting out both 1800 and 800. 800 seems to be a little bit on the weak side though, do Three run it at a lower power initially when enabling an area? If not then i suspect it's being done to prevent it from getting swamped as the mast covers a large area (even more so with 800 )

Same here, yesterday one of the masts in my area of Newtown Powys in Mid Wales started transmitting a 4G800 and 4G1800 signal. Seeing as 4G800 is the only thing that can penetrate my home I guess I don't need that Home Signal box anymore

Just waiting for the two other masts in my area to be sorted out.

I've just heard about that Three now have new essential plans which do not include inclusive roaming in feel at home countries. I'm not sure exactly which plans are "essential" and "advanced," and there is limited information online. You can only find out if you are on one of these plans if you call them up. You also may have bought a plan with Three thinking you can roam for no additional cost and then find out it's an essentials plan.

Any information on this would be appreciated.

I'm presuming either it's "a man down the pub" told you or it's a rumour of a plan change for the future.

where did you get the information from?

Three's website is pretty clear about the current state of play:

If you took out or upgraded your plan before 29 June 2016, you are on one of our Advanced plans, which includes Feel At Home, Personal Hotspot allowances and free calls to 333.

If you purchased your plan after this date, you may be on one of our new Essential plans or our Advanced plans. Your welcome letter or upgrade letter will confirm what plan you are on and what is included in this.

So it suggests it's all those things you lose on the other plans (Feel at Home, tethering and calls to 333).

Must be low end plans, or is this a way of making free features now technically chargeable?

Wouldn't you expect to be told such details when signing your contract?

Yep, as Stereo Steve has said, in the Westcountry Three would be the second best network for data after EE. I'm not even with Three but their 3G coverage nearly mimics EEs 3G coverage.
Unfortunately for Three EE seem to be doing some upgrades to legacy Orange masts that don't include 3G and there was a bit of a hoo ha about that all which seems to have been swept under the carpet.
But their basic data coverage is still pretty good whichever way you look at it.
I mean you can't get much worse than VO2 for data down here. There is very little and where there is some it doesn't really work.
