Well that doesn't make sense, as I mentioned on another thread I got £13 4GB Unlimited Mins & Texts on a 30 day sim only plan. And I have only been with them a year.

The only thing I can think of, is that they still take into account your previous average monthly sped and "weight" your importance to them based on that..

Which makes sense to a point, but is still narrow minded if I'm telling them I'm prepared to go to a more expensive tarrif, just not as expensive as they're offering (i.e. they're STILL getting more money out of me!)

I could try calling yet again, but I suspect i'll be fed the same old bull!

I have to say that I was impressed with Three while away on holiday with my family in Somerset and Dorset last week. At the lodge, a site very near to masts from all operators in Cricket St Thomas (between Chard and Crewkerne), I achieved speeds as high as 26.7 Mbps down (just 3.9 Mbps up though as there was no 4G), yet my parents on O2 could only get a 2G signal.

In fact, for most of the holiday, I was getting a good 3G service (not as fast as above when out and about, but usable) while my parents spent most of the time on 2G. I even managed to stream Planes TV live from Montacute house as there was an Air Day at nearby Yeovilton and some planes could be seen from the house, so I was tuning in to see what was going on.

Not much 4G yet down there though, although I did manage to connect to it while walking around the lodge estate- a weak signal from Chard I'm guessing.

Three continued to impress me yesterday when I went to Doncaster races. Plenty of monopoles around so a very strong signal giving 18.75 down and 1.57 up on 3G and 32.14 down and 24.73 up on 4G from the families enclosure. Mum's O2 phone was only showing 3G although the coverage maps do show that 4G is available so I don't know what's going on there.

I do intend to switch to EE when I get a new contract due to the presence of a 2G backup and the better 4G coverage, but I am definitely impressed with Three on the whole and would recommend them if you want good 3G coverage for getting online but aren't bothered about calls and texts or very fast 4G everywhere.

I can perform a little trick that gives me 800mhz again for 2-3 days, I do this before traveling to an area that relies on 800mhz (data only but I call via WhatsApp)”

Thanks for that. I live in a small town where the signal is generally good but bad in a few areas. Would have been nice to have it fixed by 800MHz but hey.

But regarding Three not supporting the phone as they've never sold it, they support the OnePlusOne which I think they've never sold?

They support the SIM free version of the Samsung S7 / S7 edge too. You don't need the official 3 branded version to use VoLTE - it just works

I can't get my SIM free unbranded S7 to work with VoLTE on Three. I've updated to the latest firmware but 4G calling does not work, switching to 3G for the call. Forcing 4G only stops outgoing calls completely.

Is there something I need to do to enable it?

It would only work on 4G 800MHz.

Have tried it on 800Mhz 4G (confirmed by *#0011#) and it didn't work.

Never mind. Upon further checking the phone doesn't have UK firmware. Not happy I've been sent an S7 with Swiss firmware on it by Mobile Phones Direct

The OnePlusOne comes up in the device search on the coverage page, the Nexus 5x and 6p don't plus when inserting the sim I get the text:

From 3: Sorry, we cannot automatically set your phone for internet and picture messaging use.

Annoying as 800mhz covers areas I frequent so staring at a phone with no signal when I know there is one!

I can't say I've seen much in the way of improved coverage, but I'm now seeing vastly improved speeds in a lot more places.. as in speeds of 60-80Mbps, which is pretty damn impressive.

I do wish they'd hurry up with support for other phones they sell, in particular Honor and Huawei phones.

Jon, this is an amazing improvement. This is phones not from Three they've got working!

It's good that more manufacturers are starting to issue updates that contain settings even if not network branded, but it's still happening too slowly and it seems Three is not pushing Huawei, meaning the Honor 7, 5X and P9 models may never get support - even via inTouch.

I am not blaming anyone for this, as I am not sure who should shoulder the blame, but the end result is still the same - it doesn't work for a lot of phone users, and SIM only customers are especially hard done by still.

Fingers crossed the process speeds up soon. God knows, every network needs VoLTE up and running ASAP. I even think EE should be rolling out something like inTouch for older phones, so as to allow 800 access for more users without necessarily having to upgrade the handset or even do a firmware update.

Can't seem to get a 4G signal at all where the new area of Lincolnshire says you can.

Errrm, yes it does - as any Galaxy S7/S7 Edge owner who has bought a carrier-free handset from CPW (me included) will testify!

I have done, and if you'd read the immediate previous posts, you would have noticed that I was quoting the Three website, NOT an earlier poster!

Flashed my Galaxy S7 with the latest UK BTU Firmware G930FXXS1APG3/G930FOXA1APEQ and I have lost access to the *#0011# service mode and it still doesn't seem to connect to Three's 800Mhz service or support VoLTE.

Is there something I need to do to enable this after flashing the firmware?

Never mind. I've flashed the latest H3G UK firmware and both of the above are working fine now. Was hoping to keep a generic UK firmware, but in the end I gave up.
