Linux mint downloading just fine. I'll even do a video for you when I've got my iPad to film it. In a bar at the moment. |

You might want to video your abilities and let Jon know, it seems him (and every commentator who has commented on his website) are unable to do anything like that on Three while roaming.
You should feel lucky to be unique, perhaps it's a perk for being such a good promoter of the Three network ![]() So, I have no reason to suspect he's lying. NPerf will of course show what it's like for the services people are more likely going to use. Then there's things like downloading some files, or backing up your photos and video to Google Photos. Or posting a 20 second video to Twitter or Facebook. These have to be tried manually, and my experience is that this can vary a lot - from working almost perfectly to crawling as if you've been throttled to 'O2 speeds'... As for the comments on my site, I should stress that every post made is published. Not a single one is edited or deleted. I'm still waiting for anyone to say it works just fine for the things I've pointed out are restricted. Let's also remember that following my posts and a feature in a trade newspaper, Three actually states video streaming is blocked. So, it's actually not something anyone should expect to work now - but it certainly was when they launched it. As such, doesn't this mean Thine Wonk is actually abusing the service?

There is a chance Twitch isn't blocked. Same as when you use a VPN you can bypass the throttling, but still have to take into account latency issues from everything coming via the UK.

Lol you can use up to 20GB according to the terms and this was testing.
I am interested to see NPerf results, as you may well have found something that gets around their throttling (like as if you used certain VPNs). Mind you, if that's the case you may not want to mention it again as Three obviously monitor this forum and may well make a few adjustments. There's no way Three (or more importantly the operators it has agreements with) are going to want 1080p 60fps video streaming! |

12GB now (down from 25GB). Three keeps reducing it!

Said steams are blocked yet I'm getting 18mb down and can watch video. Will film YouTube or something playing tomorrow, here's a screenshot.

Does YouTube streaming work on it?

Yep although with a 12 GB limit I'm going to be careful, not fussed about streaming lots. I've updated my podcasts, browsed, used maps and even sorted my boarding pass for the journey back, for free it's great.

I'm surprised YouTube worked. You must have a special SIM or something! I think in all my tests, I've had video work for a matter of seconds and at a pathetic resolution.

Weird how nperf failed but YouTube worked though? Tbh if YouTube and things like Facebook, maps etc do work properly Three's roaming could actually be very good.

If they aren't charging for it Jon I fail to see the issue, it's a no extra cost little freebie for me. You've been on this PR crusade now for a while over this freebie.
Three say: "You'll be able to stream and connect to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) while in a Feel At Home destination but both of these will be slower than they are in the UK." I'd rather you not ruin it as I suspect they can only offer it free, rather than charge £5 a day like the others because the data is coming back to the UK and because you share a 'pipe' of data which has some prioritisation. I'm sure hundreds of thousands have been perfectly satisfied. I understand the net neutrality argument although for free international roaming that seems a but rich, you'll just cause Three to have to charge if you keep beating that drum. |

They restrict the data for those who paid £5 a day. But I am not sure why you're moaning, you're the one and only person I know who not only got YouTube working but also streamed 60fps full HD video.
Perhaps you have a legacy SIM that is set up different, so enjoy it! And every network in the EU will need to abide by net neutrality rules. Given how Three likes to say it is the network of the people, sticking it to the man, why is the only one doing things the way it does? Vodafone and EE don't do it, for example. They don't even charge people either on the newest plans. |

The reason Jon's crusade is important is for people like me that agreed a contract and then couldn't work abroad with it. I didn't even have the choice of paying.
I had to make alternative arrangements and that seems somewhat unfair when it wasn't clearly stated before I signed up. I want streaming video or using a VPN. |

Anyone else using Three on iPhone 7? I'm told they have a known problem with users staying connected to 4G.
This has affected me around where I live. I always got strong 4G on my iPhone 5S, but now it will go down to 3G randomly instead. If I restart mobile data or the phone, it will go back to 4G but only for a brief amount of time. To throw a spanner into the works, I got the iPhone 7 just as Three did upgrade works in my area. And, reading some of the posts here, it seems like this has allowed for more fluid change between 3G and 4G. |

In areas where I got a rock solid 4G signal, like at work, the phone is stubbornly sticking to 3G. Sometimes a full shut down / power up will make it find 4G but it rarely hangs onto it for long. Interestingly they claim to have been carrying out maintenance basically everywhere I've been since getting the iPhone 7! |

I get lower speeds at home now, and a poorer 4G signal. 800 has disappeared from home, although I can still connect to it elsewhere (if I force 4G only, as otherwise it clings on to 3G even if it doesn't work).
I have seen 3G go to 4G, but can't figure out why changing that would have any connection to a worse signal. It seems as if another nearby site is offline, yet the Three website says the work was finished and I should now enjoy the improvements - done over a week ago now. I wonder if there were hardware changes made on site that requires a remote control centre change in the future? |

So it's not just me! I've only dealt with the Twitter support team so far, and jumped through all the troubleshooting hoops but had no luck - they've just raised a second line tech ticket.

Interestingly they claim to have been carrying out maintenance basically everywhere I've been since getting the iPhone 7! I've had a scroll through their Twitter feed and it looks like a lot of people are having trouble. The solution they're saying will work is selecting the carrier manually. I seem unable to do that because the search isn't returning any options! Have you tried that method? |

Yeah, it seemed to force it onto 4G temporarily but it fell back to 3G by the next time I checked. Not really a practical solution so I've left it since - I'm in central Manchester and 3G isn't really much slower.

Is this confirmed as an iPhone 7 only issue? I've noticed over the last week my Mini 4 seems to be permanently on 3G as well, in places I usually see 4G.
I've just done a hard reset and it went to 4G for about 5 minutes before dropping back to 3G. A Samsung S5 next to the iPad Mini is happily sitting on 3 bars of 4G... |

I don't think anything is confirmed. Unfortunately whatever has happened has coincided exactly with me swapping to the iPhone 7 and the latest carrier update being available, so there are many potential smoking guns!

Though you mentioning the iPad mini makes me think the carrier settings 25.1 might be the most likely suspect - had you updated the iPad to that?

What after bitching and moaning in about 100+ posts? I thought you were on EE? So despite all the moaning they're you're provider still. |
