I see very little evidence of Three 800MHz expanding in the real world.

By expanding, do you mean upgrading/construction of new 800Mhz masts, or additional use of the existing 800Mhz masts?

I can't comment on the former as I don't know where they were/weren't, but as regards the latter I certainly think my phone's using it more often and in more locations than it did when I first ticked the 4g box in inTouch.

Maybe they keep turning up the power until their three sites cover the entire UK?

I'd laugh but my area seems to be "covered" by a mast 20 miles away.

South Hams has way more 800 now and it's getting denser by the week it seems. I'm no longer with 3 so no idea how accurate it is.

hi all

how do you know if Three Super Voice is working?

Im on a Three contract and also have just got a Three LG Spirit H440N 4G phone (with latest OTA 3 firmware) which is Super Voice compatible. I live in a Three Super Voice area too

i get horrible reception at home normally, but cannot see any indication on the phone that Super Voice is working, any ideas how i tell?

also do you think this phone will get wifi calling native in the future on Three?

I wish they'd change the priority for each band. Or turn on wifi calling for more phones.

My dad has upgraded to an S7 edge. "Supervoice" works fine, apart from the fact that the house is on the edge of 3G coverage (coverage is so fragile, dropped calls / poor audio is common) and the phone likes to stay on that rather than switch to 800 + VoLTE

I think with may phones the only real way to know is try make a call and if it stays on 4G/LTE its using ""super voice"", on EE on my samsung S7 there is a VOLTE icon that shows when ive got access (95% of the time im on my phone i see this only place i dont is inside work and that because i only get a weak Edge connection but then i use wifi calling anyway so no biggie) ,When i had a LG G5 it used to come up at HD on the phone dialer when using VOLTE but there was no icon, But basically the only time i know it is actually 100% working is the fact it sticks on 4G and does not drop to 3G/H to make the call

I have an S7 edge and since it received the October security update last week the volte icon no longer shows for calls over 4g, bit of a shame as it was quite handy to know if you were on the 800 band.

Surely at the moment, just staying on 4G when on a call shows that you are on the 800mhz band?

Thanks for that

I installed LTE Discovery app from play store which showed me it connecting to Band 20 for a short time, seems it likes Band 3 more at home,

guess this shows me the phone is compatible with Super Voice.

Three have stated that it will be once all the bugs on 800 have been ironed out.

Excellent hopefully they might turn the power up too. We might start to see some L2100

Would I be right in thinking that if I were to go out and buy a iPhone 6s or 7 tomorrow from Argos and stick my three SIM only SIM in it I would then gain access to the super voice 800mhz band? No chance in getting on it with my 6P sadly

Yes - It doesn't matter where you buy the iPhone from - as long as it is unlocked.

I've noticed lately in the area I live my phone always jumps onto 4G doesn't seem to like 3G much anymore, it will cling to that 4G for a reasonable amount of time. Going back a few weeks 3G was it's preferred connection. If I loose 4G it will jump straight back up when it's available.

Well, I was down in the Brecons this weekend and noticed that there was a fair bit of 4G800 there; my phone certainly found itself on that simply because it was the only kind of Three signal available. Otherwise, it did seem to stick with 4G800 in some areas where there was also 3G2100, so presumably you were seeing the same effects.

Didn't change the fact that there were still huge coverage blackspots though; but I can accept that in an area of outstanding natural beauty, granting planning permission for a mast is unlikely!

put my new Three sim contract into my Sim Free BTU S7 Edge running the new Android 7 beta

LTE Discovery App showed it hitting Band 20 (800) for a short time.

anyone else find the S7/Edge gets Band 20 without being on Three Firmware?

Ive not seen VoLTE symbol yet when on Three, but often get it on my EE contract Sim on the S7 Edge.

I live in that area, so that explains it.

I'm jealous, certainly it's prettier than Manchester! But the amount of time I still spent with no service was quite high, especially up near Pontstiscill reservoir!

I can imagine it's not great signal there, I live just inside the beacons not too far from Abergavenny

I'm off to EE, they've released their 4gee Max tariffs on sim only finally, £25 / month for the 20gb service at the moment, with them about to launch 800mhz the cost difference vs 3 (pretty much none over the 12 months with cash back) makes it a no brainier for me. Been in 3 for years (since the £15 one plan days), feels like they've lost their way, let's see what EE can do.

I'm the opposite.

Been with EE for a year, am on unl all and 6gb for £12 per month sim only (after cash back).

Have bought a three sim only, unl all and 30gb data for £17 after cash back.

Going to use three in touch app for wifi calling until three allow the s7 edge to work natively.
