I believe the user I was quoting asked what Speedtest app to use for EE, which is why I said Rootmetrics. Being on Three I'm aware there are no options for me other than to have a large data allowance .
I read it as from EE, with the assumption that one was part of EE. The RootMetrics one has always seemed as if it is part of, and endorsed by, EE.

Any thoughts on doing a boot loader unlock and root?
Hi, as the phone has warranty I'm going to leave it stock.

But have tested wifi calling and it does appear to be work only if there is no coverage at all, works fine at home in certain rooms where there is zero signal.

Does band 20 take priority over wifi calling?

Awe...it would let everyone convert a sim free lg g5 to 3uk.
Priority for calls is 3g over 4g. If no 3g signal at all then b20 comes into play. If no signal at all then Wi-Fi calling....and in the UK

Testing 800MHz today on the S7 and I have to say the coverage is spectacularly good. Hasn't dropped out once between Alton, Hants and Four Marks. That's not a long way but the phones I've got on EE and Vodafone have dropped out multiple times already.

I'm impressed too. It's just a shame that it's "last resort". My dad is still with 3, and his house is on the very edge of 3G coverage, and the phone prefers that over switching to 800MHz and using VoLTE.

I wish it'd do that because the VoLTE works far better than the dropped calls / nonexistant call quality he gets on 3G.

That, or enable wifi calling (he has a 3 branded S7)

My S7 was often connecting to 800MHz over 3G so it seems on some masts the priorities are different. This wasn't always the case but it did happen fairly regularly.

How do you actually enable 4g "Super Voice" on Three ?

Haven't been with them long and got the text earlier on about it and it's really not clear how you enable it.

What phone do you have and how did you get it?

I've got an iPhone 6s and I bought it unlocked from CEX last year.

You need to go to Settings < Mobile Data < Mobile Data Options < Voice & Data.

Confirm 4G is selected and then when you're in a Three Super-Voice area you will connect to the 800MHz/band 20 frequency if you have no 3G signal.

Aha, ok. Thanks. I've already got 4G turned on for voice & data anyway.

It gave me the impression it was something that had to be installed or set up - not that it was essentially automatic. The coverage checker does say that my area is super-voice enabled.

Three's selection of the 800mhz super voice band means you will only get it as a last resort. 3G is proritised over 4g800 so you have to lose 3G signal before getting three supervoice 4g800

Is it still the case that the iPhone is the only unlocked/non-3-bought device that will work with Super-Voice, or have any Android phones now been enabled?

I have just bitten for a gold unlocked Galaxy S7 from the Amazon Warehouse for just over £320 (they are doing 20% off Warehouse deals at the moment.

Is there any way of getting it working with Three's SuperVoice?

Not too bothered if not as was too good a deal to pass up and I've always been ok with Three's 3G.

Thanks Mark.

Is that even without Three's firmware?

Thanks Mark.

I have a 3UK SIM (PAYG), topped it up and purchased a 30d add-on. Took it to work and tried it in my co-worker's S7 Edge. He is on EE but got the handset from CPW, thus factory unlocked and SIM free.

I did see 0-bar of 4G (where I normally get no 3G or 4G) and the VoLTE toggle but did not see any VoLTE indicator at the top of the screen (I think you should??). However I could not place a call, data speedtest was very sporadic and didn't look good. I presume it is either an issue with the SIM Free phone registration on 3UK 4G/800 or the signal is still not good enough to get into my building!!

This 3/EE 800MHz is driving me nuts!!

You won't see a VoLTE icon on the newest firmware.

The VoLTE symbol disappeared a couple of firmware updates ago, but I can definitely vouch for the fact that the S7 Edge bought SIM free from CPW DOES work out of the box on Three 800MHz VoLTE - it is just hat the icon no longer shows.

Wonderful, thank you for the clarification ...... I've got OP3 and I kind of like the VoLTE symbol

So where I work, it looks like not even 800 is going to help me

Well in time it might. Is your nearest mast enabled for it?
