Been a while since I've posted here, I have used the OnePlus 3 prior to my current mobile device, and I never had a "VoLTE" signal to indicate that it was connected, can you explain if you've modified it or if it's in a "New" OTA Update that has recently came out? Because I don't re-call ever seeing a "VoLTE" signal even on this OnePlus 3T however it was connected to the band 20 (800mhz) band for sure as LTE Discovery showed it, but it's low priority, you'll likely connect to 1800Mhz (band 3) if it's got a stronger signal.

Yes I have the OP3 but running the Community Build of MM (Beta). This introduced the VoLTE toggle (where SIM supports it) and puts the VoLTE symbol in the notification bar. When I use an EE SIM I can make VoLTE calls on band 3 and 7.

However when I insert my 3UK PAYG SIM (topped up and add-on purchased) I do not get a VoLTE toggle and no symbol in the notification area. Therefore it does not allow VoLTE calls or connect to 3UK's 800.

I'm surprised that you get 800 as it is not a device that Three has whitelisted. The OP3 with VoLTE support is not "allowed", even if you install the 3inT app! This is what has kind of put me off going down the 3UK route

I'm in a building with no 3UK/EE signal at all, nothing. I did try the 3UK SIM in a sim-free Samsung S7 Edge from CPW and did get a VoLTE toggle. Even with that on, I got a 0-bar 4G signal, intermittent data and 0% call success!

Its really looking like VO2 long term for me

Anyone know if you can make the Honor 8 access "Super Voice"?

Also, which other phones (other than listed here and here) can access SuperVoice? I think it's more than it says here, am I right? Thanks!

Not yet, even on the Nougat beta. The beta also doesn't add VoLTE support for EE either, despite the Mate 9 having EE support.

Thanks Jon. Hmm, really don't know whether to buy the Honor 8 if I can't get 800. It makes such a difference with my iPhone, haven't seen No Service in months, when I used to get it every day! Do you know if the Pixel supports Supervoice?

No, the Pixel doesn't work on Three VoLTE either.

It's a shame that a phone having VoLTE support doesn't mean for all networks. It's a real mess.

That's not to say the Pixel couldn't get it, but as Three doesn't sell it they presumably aren't bothered. Maybe inTouch could be made to support it.

It's a real mess because Three want it to be a real mess right now.
There's pretty much no excuse - Android has the functionality built in for carriers to send VoLTE settings to the device.

But there has to be an underlying IMS stack in the ROM, which seems to be the issue as some things work on one network and not another. The individual settings aren't the problem.

What you are saying Jon is true but Three just seem to be anti anything good at the moment.

EE is the only carrier now that I think is trying to shake up the market and do things properly. That may well stop as BT get closer to them but for now, they're doing a decent job.

I can't answer that. You need two things for VoLTE to work, so maybe OnePlus doesn't have the settings for Three?

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T 100% connects to band 20, but it doesn't allow for VoLTE (Or so it would appear unless there's a way of getting the profile to allow it) but it does allow data usage. Unless LTE Discovery has lied but it shows band 20.

Also it's worth noting the only way you can connect to this band is by forcing your device to connect to LTE Only (As per my experiments).

VoLTE doesn't work when you force LTE.

It would if you was able to get the VoLTE profile.

EE won't let me use VoLTE if I force 4G only. I see and connect to 4G but calls fail every single time.

Again if you managed to get the profile settings you would be able to connect to the VoLTE but the hardest part is obtaining those settings Three and EE ain't exactly gunna be like "Oh here you go".

As the mast allows you to connect to the band 20. It clearly is possible just requires the correct settings.

He successfully enable VoLTE through Three In Touch. (Not sure how accurate it is).

But VoLTE does work on EE on OnePlus devices, so clearly at least with the way EE is doing it, the OEM doesn't need the carrier's input. Presumably Three uses some extra check.

Three decide which devices connect (Are allowed) to use VoLTE no the customer.

They also decide which devices and sims they ship the "Profile settings" for VoLTE to also.

maybe EE are more lenient to allow it.

Three doesn't like oversea phones on VoLTE (That's from my findings).

I've just had another deeper look into it and according to the Three UK website Three have aloud the OnePlus One to connect -

I can't see mention of the OnePlus 2/3/3T and only a handful of selected devices which indicates Three are controlling who connects to it also and which devices do.

My point is that even with VoLTE active, it won't work if you force the phone to 4G only. I don't know why, but that's the case.

EE does have VoLTE on 800, 1800 and 2600. Three has it on 800 only for now, but IS testing 1800.

It's because Three don't allow it three chose which devices and IMEI's are allowed (They send the settings) to connect to VoLTE or not.

Bizarre because the OnePlus One doesn't support 800MHz!!
