Although this was true in some places, it is not universal.
Originally I experienced this where I live (weak 3g ruining a reliable 4G b20 service). After about 2 months something changes and I never saw 3g again at home and b20 meant no missed calls etc. My old phone still connected to 3g, so it hasn't disappeared, but b20 made a massive difference for me after that. It just worked. YMMV but for some it is worth it. |

Yes I can certainly lock my S7 to 4G/LTE only but not a specific band as in LTE Band 20 (800Mhz)

If you want to lock a specific band try using Phone Info (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...honeinfo&hl=en) then select Secret Codes option and look for the code 2263 and try one of the 3 options to have it open the Band Selection Menu I am rooted and Launch 0 usually works for me so not sure if it will work with non rooted devices. Either way assuming the menu comes up you can select a specific band that way.

On a side note: As the phone is now unrooted, I can for the first time ever, use the Barclays bank app which I find very useful. (As you know: All flashing can seriously end up going very wrong!) |

Well what I did recently when I brought a second hand S5 was to flash it to Three UK's own firmware and then let it update from Three over the air from there. It means that I now get Supervoice on Band 20.

I think you will almost certainly need to be on the H3G firmware, I know that BTU firmware works with EE wifi calling for example but for 3's VoLTE I'm almost certain you'll have to flash Three's firmware.
Thanks guys

I do doubt that the native WiFi calling will work on an unlocked S7 though, only time will tell |

I can confirm that an unlocked BTU Samsung Galaxy S7 WILL work with 3's 800Mhz VoLTE service. I have one and it works very well, it even quite likes to choose the 4G800 over 3G occasionally. I have seen reports of many others with BTU S7's working on 4G800 so you should be fine.

as far as I know they will roll it out only to Iphone 7 and 7 plus. For older models may be not (like Vodafone)

Really? This is not good if they do that. Given there's no reason not to support the 6S and perhaps even the 6. Given both support VoLTE and can handover to the network when leaving Wi-Fi calling. EE support right back to the 5S from memory.

Vodafone did the same- when wifi calling started they rolled it out on 6s and above but not older models like 6 ot 5s. Yes they are capable with wifi calling but it is all up to the network. So Three may do the same. Also is Three wifi call-mobile signal and the oter way working like EE- VOLTE-WIFI CALL-VOLTE
Not sure why networks restrict WiFi calling to specific iPhone versions. At the end of the day the work they need to do for it to work on the 7 there's surely little to no work for older versions given it's a carrier file and the same software. 5S I can understand as it can't handoff to VoLTE. |

I've got a Three home signal and it doesn't handover calls. They just fail when leaving range. My understanding is EE handover on their home signal. Not sure if Three will do it with their WiFi calling. I haven't tried the app to see if it handsover as it's so awful and buggy.

It won't handover as VoLTE isn't live on their 1800mhz layer yet.

Interesting, I have a 7 so we shall see. I would imagine it will be coming out with iOS 10.3 in the next few weeks to months.
