This thread is about Three and what it's doing. (Or not doing the majority of the time)

If Sainsbury's advertises an item for sale and due to its own incompetence sells out in the first 30 seconds leaving people arriving all day for an item they don't have, telling then that there is Adsa and Morrisons, changes nothing. The complaint is against Sainsbury's.

I have just checked my iPhone with the 3 sim in it, had to go outside to get a signal pretty poor in a central city location, I have 3 carrier 20.0 can anyone confirm this is the latest? Thanks for your help guys. 😀

I am with Three, I would quite like to stay with them (in particular I find Feel At Home pretty useful) and can easily accept there are 'not spots' out there with no 3G coverage and no 2G fallback - but lately I've been finding myself frustrated by missing calls, or struggling to make calls, in built up urban areas where the 2100 Mhz signal struggles or fails to reach.

So I'm very interested in Three's new 800 Mhz coverage combined with VoLTE - but it might take a bit too long to roll out to satisfy my increasingly pressing desire, plus there's all the uncertainty about whether VoLTE capable handsets that were not bought from the relevant network (in this instance Three) will work - or will work but only later on after some delay. (I've been a committed SIM-free punter for ages now so this is a particular concern.)

So I might well go elsewhere shortly and switch back to Three later when the dust has settled (and I've got myself an appropriate VoLTE capable handset).

Hoping the 800Mhz rollout will cover the rest of Shrewsbury, rarely use my phone for calls but do have an issue when i try and make one in certain parts of my house. Doesn't bother me really but would be nice to have!

Whilst I'm here, has anything been said about about WiFi Calling on 3?

Do you think they are likely to increase the price of their SIM only plans or get rid of the unlimited data as I'm tempted to get my wife one of the £17/month 12 month SIM's that has unlimited data, 200mins & 4gb of hotspot?

Have been thinking this for a while as I'm on a contract with a phone with them at the moment and wanted to go SIM only when my contract finishes in April.

SIM Only plans are staying as they are for a while now.

It's 8GB hotspot now

Carrier 20 is the same for Three, Vodafone, EE and O2 since iOS 8.4.1. I would expect 21 to be issued with iOS 9 in the next week or so.

Apple increases the version every iOS release even if there is no change for your network. This means the 'carrier file' for that version is included in the iOS. If a network then makes changes between iOS versions then a carrier file can be sent out (by apple) for the network.

Sounds good.

Just wondering if it's best to hold out until my contract ends, as I bet they will finish by then.

Cheers.

You got any other hints about SIM Only on other networks Mr. MK1?

Excellent. I've been waiting for someone to add a fax service to 4G.

It's just possible that could be "Post of the year".
That's if there was actually an Internet awards event, which there isn't, I don't think.....
Three seem so full of **** now. What has happened? Those new adds are so god awful I get embarrassed and have to turn over. That's when I'm home by myself.....
Where did it all go wrong?

They didn't keep their legs crossed and gave it away for nothing!

In more real terms, their announced £500M to upgrade their network to 4G, was enough to do bugger all, as most have seen. They're trying to stretch the coverage by doing 800Mhz on far fewer sites, which IMHO is an absolute recipe for disaster, as running VoLTE on this is basically going to eat all the capacity.

Theres lots of talk on here that they've slowed down due to the proposed merger with O2, and that's part of the plan. That would actually be massively against current competition rules. The reality is they aren't generating enough money to fund this spike in network investment.

Rant over!

I knew I remembered Supervoice. Used to come bundled on a floppy when you bought a new modem 20 years ago.

I don't think any phone manufacturer has yet followed the trail Amstrad blazed - Spectrum games on your phone!

I saw around 40 down, 15 up. Good speeds albeit nothing I couldn't have theoretically got with 10MHz of course although without knowing what it would have been otherwise it's impossible to say what difference 15MHz was making.

The site is back and I am now getting the following message when I check the network coverage.

"We're planning some network improvements in your area on 07 September 2015 to 07 September 2015. We're really sorry if this affects your services. It's crucial work that will improve your network experience"

Ooo! Just done a coverage check and seems we have some more activity in my area planned: (Last was the 27th Aug)

"We're planning some network improvements in your area on 07 September 2015 to 07 September 2015"

Sticking 4G on 1800 would be what I call an improvement.

Are you in my area of Folkestone or is everyone having "Improvements" done on the 7th?
