Is the map just showing 800?

As far as anyone knows it won't be available on the iPhone until October but it's the one that is probably most likely to get it no matter where you get it from because on the others it's software update based rather than carrier update based.


I think it's mixing 1800 + 800 based on the comments I read from the developers whilst looking through the source. I think once it is live you'll put your device in and it'll say if it's got VoLTE enabled and if so enable the extra layer which shows all 4g coverage available. whether 1800 or 800. I could be wrong but that was how I read it.

That Staffs, Cheshire, Shropshire map looks like standard coverage and still poor. Maybe it just shows they aren't doing much as o2 have covered this area fairly detailed

Doesn't look to be a lot of change here in North East Hants but I suspect that will change with time.

900MHz works nicely on O2 and Vodafone so I'm hoping to see Three coverage matching that eventually!

I Don't trust that map. Botley and Curdridge is light red when I know first hand it's very good signal, especially by the Railway station.

Excellent news i have the 6plus, so it will work I assume. My phone is currently on Voda but unlocked. When I do switch to 3 would it be as simple as connecting to iTunes for the update, once live?? Thanks forgive me on my ignorance 😀

I thought that map was a joke the 1st few times I looked at it, but from the amount of masts I've managed to get signals from around the area, very few have the SIB19 received notice when I look in the Samsung service menu, cornerstone are about to blitz the area so there could be something in that.. I work in Telford and live very high up on the Shropshire /Cheshire boarder so will get something to be able to try it out if and when the Note 4 get supported, though it's not exactly a coverage map to make me run out and get a lg g4 off amazon this week..
As others say it's got to be total last resort levels switching to this 800mhz as the speeds from such few masts will be dire if not.

One thing I still don't understand is the "800MHz can be switched on at the backend" bit. Does that mean someone could ring Three and request the possibility of having no CSFB available, or something else?

Might have to ring executive line or 2nd line but they can probably manually override it. Someone with more network experience will probably be able to say.

It won't need iTunes, just an OTA update.

Try Fleet GU51 area. The coverage maps show that 900 (O2/Voda 2G & 3G) and Three and EE 4G (1800mhz) cover the area perfectly. But when I go there it is always "No service" on all 4 networks.

It will be interesting if 800mhz works any better, or if someone is going to have to put a mast back in locally (as Orange did, but EE turned off).

I don't see many total blackspots these days! I'll have a look at some point.

I do find that in a lot of places, O2 and Vodafone are still providing coverage where EE doesn't and that hasn't changed in the last three years. Yes it's GPRS but I'll take any signal over no signal.

In terms of pure signal, I'd say EE is less far-reaching but when it's available it's obviously much better.

The middle bit of Wales (IE not the very north or south) seems to have less Three 4G signal than Mars.

It's interesting that it is being quoted that IPhone 6S and IPhone 6 and plus model will not be VOLTE ready until October on 3.

From the conversations I have had this week with my contacts at both EE & Vodafone they are expecting the new carrier file to be released with IOS 9 will enable VOLTE on their networks although it will not all launch at once the technology will be there.

i am well informed it costs the networks very large amounts to get Apple to do special carrier files in between IOS updates to enable features.

So will an iPhone 6 be able to use the 4G 800mhz for data on the 10th Sept? Am I understanding this correctly that it's just VOLTE it won't be able to do until October?
