Personally I desperately want it to launch to I can see how good/bad things are so I can switch to Vodafone with a no regret and have some usable Internet access on my work journey again. I've already wasted a few months since may waiting, and until we sort out there power levels on 4g Vodafone are my only option, apart from 800mhz three

Given the Apple news, it would have been an odd day to announce something that is worthy of news coverage in its own right and would have run the risk of being lost.
That is unless it had issued a press release doing the usual 'we're selling the iPhone' story but with an additional add-on about VoLTE. Thing is, Apple has to approve every press release and the wording used. Perhaps Three failed to get Apple's approval, so it dropped any reference and has pushed back the announcement. Or they encountered problems during the final 'friendly trial' that I was hoping to have been part of? Or the PR is being cheeky (and doing its job) and will send me something in a few hours! |

Did some digging with technical team (as I did the big revel on post 640 didn't want to be wrong!). This has all been switched on today. The Samsung S5 and mini handsets should have been sent the updates and the LGG4 has slipped to the 15th Sept. The new coverage checker is live but only if you put in Samsung S5 into the compatibility box. Then you get the new coverage maps.
Anyone out there with an S5? |

Interesting, I thought the S6 / iPhones would be first to go live.
When you say update has been sent, is this an OTA for Three branded S5's? I can't think what other kind of update they could send down for android. EDIT: I put the S5 in the coverage checker, and it now says "Coming soon. Hold tight! 4G will hit your area in the next six months! And more good news ? your phone is compatible with our new 4G Super-Voice network, which means you'll get an even stronger indoor and outdoor signal." However using lightspeed's method it shows blanket outdoor coverage for my area. There is work planned on the 15th, maybe it's that... |

I was tempted to give an S5 a go (then flog it on eBay) but PAYG from Three is a ridiculous price! Need to test this improved network before I jump to the iPhone 6S Plus. |

Seems Super Voice is enabled in my area, putting the S5 into the coverage checker says
"You can make calls, send texts and use the internet in most instances on our 4G Super-Voice network. You should also get super-fast call set-up times and crystal clear HD-calling. Just so you know, indoor signal strength may vary." Putting in my phone (Xperia Z3) however makes no mention of Super Voice - neither do the iPhone 6, Galaxy S6 or HTC One M9. Trying to find some more handsets that are Super Voice compatible. I know my phone is compatible with the bands and VoLTE so hopefully Three get it enabled fairly quickly for a wider range of devices - they'll need to if they plan on hitting 65% coverage by the end of the year, unless they're using "coverage" in the sense of "assuming everyone owns a Galaxy S5". Edit: Seems to be for the Galaxy S5 only at present - tried a lot of other phones including all the top sellers and none of them mentioned Super Voice. |

I am not too bothered about Super Voice.
I am hoping to use the 800 network as I should be able to make WhatsApp calls over 4G. |

So if I purchased a Galaxy S5 from Three today and stuck my PAYG SIM in it, I would get Super-Voice today?

Let me help you with the Device list...
Just scraped from Three's website now: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing Notice there is only the S5 which has 'volte' as the device speed. |

Ah, I took it to mean 800 data OR 800 voice (Plus data)
Your way makes more sense |

![]() Maybe they're trying it with the S5 as a sort of "public" trial before adding others, and this is why they haven't made an announcement about it yet |

You won't get 800Mhz if you can't make network calls, the network won't allow it.
Are you saying that ONLY if the handset supports VoLTE then only the user will be able allowed to connect to the 800Mhz network? I would have thought the WhatsApp and other similar apps route calls over the data network. I have been able to make calls from the underground station in Central London over the VM Wifi using an application called localphone which allows me to make calls over 3G, WIFI and also route calls using 03/03 numbers. |

So if I put a SIM in a MiFi or tablet (data only) then will I be allowed access to 800? Will it be on an IMEI basis, as against a blanket activation for my account? Or will they only be activating mobile broadband/tablet SIMs for 800 access?
I wish that the industry had been clever enough to display signal for voice and data separately, so even before VoLTE we could have had 4G where 2G/3G for voice didn't exist. Then we'd have had a bar for voice, a bar for data, a bar for Wi-Fi. Very simple, and people could get data but know they don't have voice, rather than this current mess where you simply restrict data. |

Here is an interesting one if anyone has the answer. The only local 4G is in Kilmarnock and 1800MHz was enabled in the early summer. Now if I look at the coverage map with my Galaxy S4 it has limited 4G coverage in Kilmarnock. If I change it over to the Galaxy S5 it shows wide coverage from Kilmarnock with a large overspill. Clearly 800MHz.
Both the S4 and S5 support 800Mhz. So what is going on? Have Three only enabled 800MHz on certain devices? Thus the likes of the S5 will only be able to use VoLTE and Data or VoLTE only? Galaxy S4 Coverage: http://imgur.com/4Po47UK Galaxy S5 Coverage: http://imgur.com/8trisIm |
