Since the 9th (when I put together the first comparison map) Three have updated their 800 coverage.
The map below shows the 800mhz coverage on the 9th Sept (blue) on top of coverage as of today 12th Sept (red). You need to look at the red to see how much the coverage has grown by. I hope to be able to create this each weekend for 800 and 'normal' LTE coverage to get an idea of the progress (unfortunately this week I don't have the non-800 data from the 9th so I cannot do that comparison) N.B. This data is less detailed so takes minutes to create, rather than hours, but as a result things get blurry when zooming in, however, the final image is ~6MB and so more mobile friendly. http://gdurl.com/8qzw |

Not sure what you're trying to achieve there but if you crop to the land, ie exclude all the inky black parts of the image, and save as as a GIF, you can make it 75% smaller file size. I don't think Three updates their coverage map that often.
http://i.imgur.com/11FaIFq.gif If you object I'll delete the image. If it doesn't seem to be as often (i'd have thought the 800 would be with all the up coming maintenance occurring) then I'll do it once a month or something. Cheers |

Worth getting an EE PAYG SIM and checking that out as they have different backhaul. I've been on the A1 with a colleage with Three, who got 1mbps on Thre 3G, and I managed 20mbps on EE 3G. So worth checking.
I'm annoyed with three because I've held on for a long time with them after many broken promises on 4g and the one plan death and if as what seems to be happening that 800mhz 4g is restricted to phones only bought from three it's a step too far for me, I've no problem if it's to enhance your network coverage like others plan to do but when it forms the main backbone of your coverage it seems very wrong to exclude so many customers.. They may very well open it up to non three phone eventually but how long will this be? Could be next month or next year sometime, plus judging from the tone of things from three of late, price rises, contract terminations, useage caps etc. Forcing people to buy a phone from them to use the service would fit in. And frankly 5mhz of 4g just isn't worth forking out for a new phone for. |

Thought I'd give 333 call and see what they knew about Super-Voice. Unfortunately the guy I got through to must have been new, he put me on hold for 2 minutes every time I asked him a question.
They seem to have access to better coverage maps than the regular website, so I asked how my 4G super-voice coverage is and after 2 minutes he came back and told me my area was 3G only, even after confirming my post-code. I've had 4G for a year or so, not sure how he messed that one up. Also the coverage map shows 4G super-voice coverage when I select the Galaxy S5 so my area is covered. The most I got out of him was that the Galaxy S5 is the only compatible device, and the LG G4 is going live in the next 4 days. He even had me trying to push a bold bit of text on the Three website which he claimed was a button: Code:
If you got your device from us directly, the easiest way to check whether it’s compatible with our 4G network is to visit our coverage checker and select Find my device. He was literally just searching the Three website for answers to my questions. I usually get pretty good service from them and if they can't answer a question they forward me onto second line, but not today. Oh well, I hope Three make a press release of some sort soon and clarify this stuff as it's awfully confusing and there's so much conflicting information. |

The maps he'll have are live not several weeks delayed like most website checkers & also has predicted in short term.
I do believe we'll have a proper launch on Monday (not actually had any press info, not even embargoed!). All info is coming directly from having to contact the press department by phone and even then.. much like your experience at first! I get the feeling this has been rushed to pip at least one other network who are announcing soon (which is embargoed) |

Also shouldn't you be eating your hat Three did actually manage to launch VoLTE in Q3 even if it is currently a mess.

That would be the educated guess. However this is EE were talking about.. The same EE that Devonbloke still doesn't have 4G from
![]() ![]() To dig the boot in they might even light up DevonBlokes mast and VoLTE on the same day, but keep him waiting for VoLTE on his iPhone 6 for months. I bet that would drive him bonkers enough to rush out and buy a 6S

Looks like data devices can't access it then although given what the checker says perhaps this will change.
I'll try and give it a fuller workout over the weekend as I know few areas where there's 800 but no 1800 and report back. |

Aww don't be mean to Devon it's not his fault that the fibre for his mast is being shipped from the Moon and they are still attempting reentry lol.

I tried another couple of areas today where I was able to check there was good 800 and no 1800 (the coverage map was spot on in this respect) but the iPad (with a mobile broadband sim) couldn't use 800 at all. It looks like data only devices can't use it at the moment (despite the coverage checker suggesting iPads should be able to). GS5 users have an 800 network to themselves!

I live in the red splodge in Cornwall. I'm still not convinced that 800 is here
Good god man, that's simply not on in the 21st century. Have you contacted your local MP, Sky and the BBC??? Read all about it... read all about it... "Man in Cornwall forced to live in red splodge. Local Council turns a blind eye".. I didn't bother hanging my coat up this time....

Probably answered 1000 times before but my mast has work booked on the 16th. I can't see that it's 4G for reasons best not discussed but it may be. Or it may go live soon. Is there any way I can test for this on my cheapo ZTE S6 Android phone? It does 800 and I've got a 3 SIM. Is there an app or something. Apologies if this has been explained many times.
If they enabled it I think I would ditch VOD, buy a compatible phone and move my main number to the 3 SIM, maybe until EE roll out 800 down here at least. |

![]() No roadworks.org plans and I know the fibre will go down the road. The kit has been in for months and months and as far as I can see the new antennas are there too. Going to go up next weekend with binoculars to see if in fact they do have 3 sets of inputs (790 - 2700). Kind of living in hope that it will be before Christmas but as you say..... it's EE. |

After a short trip to my local Three store this afternoon I have been enlightened about VoLTE. The man in there there told me that all I need to do is switch on my mobile data on my Moto G 4G. He showed me how to do this in the settings. But, he explained it was best not to do it as it would cost me money because I was on PAYG. The 4G voice takes more data he explained and that would cost extra. I asked about software updates, no he said, not needed. I walked out.

![]() They're not really trained to know a great deal about networks, just how to sell a contract. But I guess this guy didn't even read their own internal documents about Super-Voice because he clearly has no idea. |
