I've taken the plunge and pre-ordered the iPhone 6S Plus. I'm perfectly happy on my sim-only contract, I don't want a phone from Three and I can't run a Three rom on a Nexus 6 because it doesn't exist. If and when google sort out this mess, I'll grab a new Nexus, but for now it's gotta be an iPhone. VoLTE is clearly the future and 800 will help me out quite a lot coverage wise.

I had network maintenence on the 16th, supposedly. I swear the last 9-10 times it's shown planned maintenence in my area, literally nothing happens, no one turns up to local sites and they all stay powered on and functional throughout the entire day. Happens a couple of times a month and I wonder what's going on.

Once you've tried iPhone, you'll never go back.........

My last iPhone was the 4s, nice phone but wanted something bigger in size and a bit more freedom with the UI, now iPhone have the 6+ and many of the reasons I went for Android in the first place seem to no longer apply, plus I hear the iPhone 6 has much improved reception which might be useful in fringe coverage areas. the main stumbling block now is the cost of memory, I'd like at least 64gb but it's a big cost increase for something you know doesn't warrant the price tag, at least reception is much improved now on the LG G4 over the note 4 I had previously, quite shocking to see the difference on the same route.

The H3G coverage map info has now changed for Motorola G 4G, "You can use the internet over our 4G network." No longer mentions calls or text. I'd like to think I've #madeitbetter, or more accurate anyway.

But he never wanted to change the IMEI, just flash the phone.
Many people think the phone is whitelisted through the IMEI (am I right or wrong here?).

But if you buy a Samsung Galaxy S5 from EE for example, and you unlock it and then download Three's firmware from Sammobile.com and flash your phone with it.
Then you still shouldn't get access to the 800mhz spectrum since the phone isnt bought from Three, and they don't have your IMEI number.

So thats what he meant, if you get access after flashing your phone with Three's firmware then their 800mhz spectrum isnt locked to any IMEI numbers.

But now comes the question if thats what the white list is about, phones accepted through their IMEI numbers or not.
I want one particular guy to answer this, end off!!

People have managed to flash non Three S5s with Three firmware and have them work with 800MHz.

It is possible that the reason why is because Three have allowed the entire S5 IMEI range to connect to 800MHz and not just those sold by Three, or instead they are checking whether the phone is setup for VoLTE or not.

Like you I also want Three to answer this but when I tried they just ignored it.

In the USA, is it only T-Mobile USA sold Android devices that have VoLTE support or do they support other devices too?

If LTE was running at full power and you were getting a signal of around -105dBm on 3G (2100MHz), what signal would you get on 1800MHz LTE and 800MHz LTE, from the same mast?

It seems that only T-Mobile branded devices support WiFi calling but other devices with VoLTE support in the firmware seem to support it?

So many dependencies, for example if the signal goes through trees with leaves, this time of year, the water in the leaves attenuates radio signals more than in summer (dry leaves) or when there are no leaves.

If the 3G at 2100 is not subject to cell-breathing, I think the 1800 would be similar - assuming direct line of sight (ie, in open air). Propagation of signals through wood, breeze block, glass, filled cavity wall is very variable, thus the indoor problems.

800 should be easier - think of loop antennas on top of 14" TVs in the 1980s, you generally had 'fuzzy' but usable pictures. Sadly digital is all or nothing; thus hardly anyone has loop antennas in the Freeview era even with high power. Drop outs don't just cause fuzz, they cause speech to be lost, which breaks comprehension.

HTC One M8 seems to be getting VoLTE support too.

Looks like my local Pre orange, current EE 4G mast have been MBNL'd and now getting Three 3G from it, however no Three 4G (yet)

Been checking the signal in Shrewsbury a fair bit lately. I've noticed there's been a new 4g mast added, somewhere around Morrisons/Tesco (Grange/Harlescott/Sundorne area) seems to be a brand new mass as I got signal in Morrisons today, never used to on 3G!

That makes 3 in Shrewsbury now but a very small signal footprint. 800Mhz will help that obviously. Interestingly enough, of the two I've been able to connect to, both have 50mbps+ speeds!

I'm smack back in the middle of the mast to the west of the town on the coverage checker (of which I've never received a signal from!) and the one in the east on Oteley Road.

Looking forward to getting my 6S and hopefully Three have VoLTE and 800Mhz towards the start of Oct!

I was getting the 800mhz voLTE in the southern general hospital in Glasgow and made a few calls which worked well

Still wondering why windows phone customers can't all be activated when on windows 10 mobile. Iupdate my carrier settings everyday or 2 but no change.

Anyway to the person who said about once you go iPhone you wont go back, I had an iPhone 4 and after just over a year I was sixk of it. Been using windows phone and android ever since.so much better.

As posted in another thread, the final iOS 9 released was actually different to the gold master, and that probably contained the updated carrier bundles.
