Not sure if I'm allowed to do this but would anyone be interested in my LG G4 on Three? Fully compatible with Super-Voice?

Out of interest why are you selling? Did you buy it simply to test VoLTE or do you use another phone as your daily driver?

Just bought it to test out VoLTE.

I've got lots of other phones that I use and the G4 isn't really for me to to be honest.

Did you manage to test 800MHz data speeds on Three?

I haven't had a chance yet as despite it supposedly being live in my area. I'll give it a test over the next few days.

I cant fully remember what speed I got but was less than 10MB when I had an 800mhz signal

A few people have mentioned that 3's priority over 4G is changing, can anyone talk more about it. Others have also mentioned CA. Lastly I have the iPhone 6 Plus can anyone compare it to the S6 edge + and if so which do you prefer. I'm stuck between upgrading to the 6s plus and the S6 edge+

Speed kills! I think what 3 are doing is going for coverage figures. 800 is the best way to cover the most people in the least time. It should work OK. Folk in rural areas are used to low speeds and all we really want is a decent signal. Check the bank, Do Whatsap etc. Speed is secondary when you have no service at all.

VOD certainly seem to be pushing 800 out first and then going back and filling in with 2600 which seems a decent strategy too.

EE have left 800 until last but then they have already got a good 1800 network so it's less of an issue for them.

I am awaiting the iPhone 6S Plus to be delivered. I've owned a Galaxy S6 and I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to multitask, you are going to need to root your S6, Samsungs stock software is garbage, an iPhone with 2 gigabytes less ram can multitask better than a stock S6 Edge Plus. I had some shockingly bad service, having to return my S6 to samsung 4 times in total, each time they didn't fix my signal issues but claimed they did. In the end I vowed never to buy a Samsung phone again.
This isn't a reflection on Android, Android is great, Samsung just have no idea what they are doing with it. I vote you go for the iPhone.

As for 3's 4G priority, I'm not sure what's going on with it at the moment. When Super-Voice first launched, it was basically only accessible when 3G wasn't available and you'd be at no service otherwise. I've heard reports of this no longer being the case, but I cannot confirm that as I don't have a Super-Voice capable device, yet.

There's also been reports of Super-Voice being more in a trial stage, maybe the 4G priority will change from 4G1800,3G2100,4G800 to 4G1800,4G800,3G2100 once the iPhone becomes compatible.

Also there was a mention on another thread of 4G800 being enabled on customers devices with a newer version of the Three-in-Touch app due to be released this month.

It's a case of wait and see I'm afraid.

Don't worry, as much as I enjoy the novelty of 80mb down once in a while when stood by quiet Vodafone masts in London, what you describe is far more important to all of us, whether on a train or driving through the Dales.

The 3G2100 could end up being the best place to be if you always want 18 meg down on DC-HSPA+?

Not everywhere, where I live, most of the time I get better speeds on 4G1800 than 3G2100 unless the 4G is very congested. The only times I find 3G speeds getting that high is in rural areas. Especially now that 4G1800 has that extra 5mhz slice taking it up to 15mhz, you should find in most cases 4G is faster than 3G.

Either way, it's going to be 4G1800 or 3G2100 that you will want to be on. 4G800 just isn't going to be fast @ 5mhz, but it's damn sure handy for where you would otherwise have no coverage.

I have the iPhone 6 Plus on Vodafone at the minute as I can not get any signal indoors on 3 despite being slap bang in the city centre poor show to be fair. No faulty masts just no coverage, I would love the 6s Plus for its 4K recording as it's easier whilst on holiday and travelling about than carry two devices! I'm am going to NYC again at the end of Jan and hope 3 800 will be live on the iPhone so I can change before I go! Do you think they are holding back releasing the iPhones use of 800 until they hit 65% coverage by the year ending? So they can shout about it more?

I have great speeds on Vodafone 800 between 30-45 down, but the experience just doesn't seem as snappy as 3 is, pings are high considering its 4G 50-65 ping, ping on DC 3G with Voda is 30-40?

3 are doing a lot of work around the city at different locations currently hopeful they are increasing 3/4G coverage. EE 3/4G is solid across the city so I keep hoping for 3 to catch up!

Totally agree. My only concern is can it cope?
I guess 3G 2100 at 5/10Mhz seems to cope reasonably well and that has everyone on the same cell using the same bandwidth rather than splitting into sub carriers as LTE does.
EE have set themselves a slight problem in that they ARE the speed kings. 5Mhz of 800 is going to screw with that big time methinks.
Just recently the EE 1800 around here is getting really really good even with only about half the masts on AND on half power.
If they do 800 lower than 2100 then not many will be on it, but if they do it above 2100 then the Rootmetrics scores are going to come down in a major way.
It will be interesting to see what they do.

It might knock the averages but maybe RootMetrics will take it into account? This wouldn't just benefit EE.

5Mhz LTE is broadly equivalent to DC-HSDPA(10Mhz), as LTE is approx twice as spectrally efficient, so if it's 5Mhz LTE800 vs 10Mhz 3G2100 (with no 1800/2600 LTE) then 5Mhz LTE will be broadly the same (~6Mbps average across the cell). So having 800 prioritised above 3G 2100 won't lower the average speeds.

Has the extra 5MHz on Three 4G helped? I left them because their 4G in London was like being on GPRS.

I had kind of guessed that 5Mhz 800 was probably in a similar ballpark to 10Mhz DC from other articles I had been reading.

1800 getting really good down here now (even on half power). EE seem to be on "phase 2" down here with smaller "fill-in" (Buckfastleigh) masts now going live.
Once they get them all 1800, 800 won't have such a big hole to fill.
If they manage to get the 1800 cranked up and CSFB switched to 2G in places then there will be very few places you will need 800 and so it's speed will be near maximum.

This kinda "tri-band" deployment of small amount of spectrum at low frequency, medium at medium frequency and large amount at high frequency seems to be the best kind. It's expensive I presume but works well.

Totally agree. Consistent coverage is far more useful than occasional super-speed. I find network speed on Three in the same location at different times of day incredibly variable. I stayed at a hotel in Croydon last week & had 50Mbps first thing in the morning & 3.5Mbps early evening.

Realistically what speed is sufficient for decent phone use? 5Mbps? 10Mbps? I would happily accept that if I always had connection at that speed & never dropped signal. Travelling by car I see so many 'Not Spots' on all networks that even low speed streaming like iPlayer Radio cannot be relied on.

I don't know if it's changed much in the last 6 months, but I did a couple of fairly long journeys (once from Poole to Harlow and then also Basildon to Norwich) and on both journeys streaming high quality Digitally Imported radio it only cut out once for around 2 mins (both times in the back of beyond).

I also did Harlow to Norwich around a month ago and yet again it only cut out once around Thetford for around 2 mins.

I did have more drop outs in the middle of nowhere a few miles SW of Nottingham a couple of months back I must admit.

From the places I go I'm more than happy with Three (they might not have the fastest speeds, but for me and the places I go they seem to have a constant minimum speed enough to at least stream high quality Internet Radio).

Some work was carried out in my near on 09 October but I didn't see any change on that day.

The next morning the network was down for me so I restarted the phone and now get 2-3 bars of 4G in the house with lots of fluctuations between 1 and 3 bars.

Speed tests result in pathetic speeds but over all the browsing experience is very good.

I don't think it's rural areas only Jon. EE said rural plus urban areas where they see indoor coverage improvement as important.

Currently the City is bathed in 800 albeit with no access for normobs.

3 are claiming they have network maintenance in my area tomorrow. Is this one of those nationwide events like before?

I remain hopeful it's 1800MHz 4G but I doubt it.
