If you can prove it with screen shots, write a complaint letter and send it to them. I feel that we should report any technical problems to Three disregarding the fact that phone customer care will probably not understand a thing. The tech team will surely understand, if your letter or description of the problem is passed on to them.

I notice that 3's scheduled maintenance yesterday seems to have resulted in EE 4G not working. It doesn't show up in a network search anymore.

I'm doubtful that it'd make a difference.

I'm not too bothered as it wouldn't change much for me - I already have decent internet, I am not reliant on 4G or anything.

I had some "network improvements" by Three on the 9th, my 1-2 bar 4G and 3-4 bar 3G has now "improved" to 1-2 bar 3G and no 4G.

Let's hope your "improvements" aren't as good .

Three are now acknowledging on their map they have a 4G mast active in Hull, a month and a half after it went live

I was told over a year later by EE that I now had 4G. I'd been using it before they even launched 4G!

I doubt they will come back with something better than a generic "We are constantly looking into ways to upgrade our network". At least, I am making it clear that I will not stay waiting forever for such services. Native WiFi Calling for instance is very important to me, as I live in a basement flat.”

They replied to my e-mail. So to sum up their e-mail:

Native WiFi Calling: Currently, there is no information about it. But InTouch has been upgraded with iPhone 6S / 6S Plus support
SuperVoice (VoLTE): An upgrade is due by the end of the year that will support iPhone 6S / 6S Plus.
4G+ (LTE Advanced): There is no information, but they are looking into ways to improve their network.

The only piece of information we got here is that VoLTE for iPhone 6S / 6S Plus is coming by the end of the year. I could settle down with InTouch if it works properly, but I am not happy with their reply for LTE Advanced. I guess it'll come if and when they allow wider access to 800MHz for Data?

The only thing that keeps me, really, is the AYCE Data at this price. Also other networks do not even have an option for AYCE Data after so many years of its commercial introduction. (with the exception of MVNOs)

As according to the coverage checker, there is still no 4G in Northern Ireland while it has been switched on for over a month in Belfast!

Three really have pushed the boat out for me. Work is scheduled for tomorrow but they seem to have started a day early with the o2 upgrade package. Calls blocked, data not flowing and keep losing mast signal. Had to resort to my work phone on Vodafone.

And now it's changed from the 15th to: We're planning some network improvements in your area on 20 October 2015. We're really sorry if this affects your services. It's crucial work that will improve your network experience.

At least one site in this area has gone 15mhz, but the one that needs the upgrades hasn't been touched since 4g1800 was installed, a solid 1mbps maximum speed from it at peak times today.

How do I find from which masts do 3 transmit?

Also where can I find all these planning applications for these mobile maintenances?

I use Opensignal and can find quite a few masts around my house but when I use H+ my phone always connects to the mast to the right of my house and switching to 4G it always connects to the mast, which is to the left of my house.

Do Three transmit 4G only from certain masts?

As mentioned before 4G seems to be all over the place with the signal constantly jumping between 0 to 3 bars. Speeds are pathetic unless I test at 5:00am in the morning.

Also there is more maintenance around planned for the 20th for my area (probably that one mast).

Opensignal can be quite inaccurate at times due to the way it tries to determine the location.

http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ probably your best bet. Mostly out of date now (you can find out why on the site) but I think Three info is up to date to around 2012 so won't give you 4G info but will tell you where most sites are.
If your planning area is anything like mine then small upgrades don't get published.
I find that Arqiva or Harlequin do most of the work down here so I can normally get the info by emailing them.

4G only on certain masts yes. Go to the Three coverage checker to see the coverage.
Because 4G1800 is on low power you can normally zoom in and determine which sites are transmitting it from the coverage pattern based on where the sites are on sitefinder.

I don't understand why Three speeds are so bad sometimes. I mean they have three quarters of EE's bandwidth (15Mhz). That ought to be good for a minimum 20 meg but going up to 60 or so.
Must be crap backhaul or something.

I thought backhaul was the one thing that is still shared for 4G (and that it should all be fairly modern, no smoke signals like on Vodafone or O2)? I guess it depends on what proportion each operator gets.

Modern EE and 3 4G sites I've been to on microwave use 1gb NEC microwave links, like these: http://pedroc.co.uk/eebackhaul.jpg Sometimes they appear to duplex the links for 2gb

Yeah, the old server was a bit slower that time.... took about 30 seconds to get that pic! : )
Can't imagine 1Gb or even 2 will be enough going forward. Most big fibred sites must be on 10Gb now surely.

Every time Three do maintenance on my site (which is several times in the last few weeks), EE3G goes off and the other day it all went off.
Starting to wonder if Three are thinking of doing what Cellnet and Vodafone did back in the late 80s. Carry an angle grinder with them, do the maintenance and then fell the rival's mast!!
Although now it would be a strong pair of snips to cut the antenna cables.

The server is a reasonably powerful Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM, it's the DSL that's the problem!

The pictured site was Corfe Castle, which was happily doing 100mbps on EE 4G and 32mbps on 3 3G. Admittedly, it is quite a rural site, so there were probably not many users even on a sunny touristy day.

3 is breathing in much more than it used to outside my front door so something has changed. More users or less capacity. Struggle to get 3G in my top room now where that used to be easy. I think the term 'working in your area' means they just come out, pull some random cables out, kick the cabinet, have a sandwich in the van and then go home'. It seems to get worse with every improvement they make. 321 is a good deal for my usage but might need to go back to EE for my data sim at this rate.

Well I'm disappointed, the Three Covarage checker shows that I should be getting 'good' service on 4G 800 in Warsop and there isn't a hint of 4G in the whole of Warsop and we supposed to have had maintenance today as well...can the covarage checker be premature? Or is it a cock up on Three's side?

From my experience 3 UK tell lies!

I too am supposed to be within an area that can receive strong coverage of this new volte supervoice service, but I rarely get it.

Looks like the nearest 800 signal is coming from a mast in Woodhouse. Also looks like Berry Hill is 800 and a few on Stanton Hill.

Three coverage checker optimistic as ever!
