What carrier version do you have currently.

I decided to go with the public 9.1 beta and am currently at
Three 22.0

Carrier version 21.1 on iOS 9.0.2. Is there an actual difference though?

Fingers crossed, so am I. I can't see 3 paying Apple to launch a carrier update separately after the update

Do they have to pay each time they want to release a carrier update? I've never heard that before.

I'm sure I read it on a forum somewhere, that it's very expensive to request a carrier update via Apple. I could be very wrong and misread it.

Just called Theee and spoke to their "Technical Team".. I use that term loosely of course. I have work being carried out on the 22nd and 27th of this month and was asking what the work was... Could they tell me!!! No!!!! The technical team don't seem to be very technical.. I also asked about iPhone update for 4G Supervoice and she said that iPhones purchased from Three were already starting to receive the update and some customers are already using supervoice on their iPhone. Any customers that purchased their iPhones from Apple will have to wait for the update from them.. Can any iphone users that purchased their handsets from Three confirm this?

Clearly something has changed during the weekend in my office area.

Where I used to get 1 bar of H+ I get the full 4/5 bars now and 2 bars of 4G with approx 10mbps speeds.

I hope it doesn't change...

iPhones are not branded. They can't enforce an update only to 'iPhones purchased from Three'. Also Three does not sell locked iPhones. I think they did not know what they were talking about

I tried that but it lead to a voice prompt about extra spending on my account this month. Am I missing something?

Strange, that button combo always works for me. I was told that my area is covered by 4G super-voice but iPhone isn't supported yet, they said the update is coming out very soon but would not be any more specific than that.

Release from Three today:

Originally Posted by Three:

· Half of UK already has access to additional spectrum

Three’s 4G speeds will increase by up to 50% nationwide as part of an ongoing rollout of additional spectrum on our network.

The extra spectrum will help to increase the performance, speed and capacity of our 4G network.

The additional 5MHz of the 1800MHz spectrum, which is used to carry 4G on our network, has already been switched on at all of our sites in Northern England, the West Midlands, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The rest of the UK, including London, will receive access to higher speeds following completion of the rollout.

This programme is part of a drive to further improve reliability on the data network, which carried 42% of UK mobile data traffic in the year-ending March 2015.* Average data usage per customer reached 4.65GB per month in June 2015.

The deployment will also help to further improve reliability by adding some much needed capacity in congested areas.

Three processes a huge amount of data on its network for customers every day** and that’s why it has been rated us as the UK’s most reliable for each of the past five quarters, according to YouGov research.

The enhancement follows the launch of 4G Super-Voice last month, when Three became the first UK operator to use our 4G network for voice calls. Combined with our low frequency 800MHz spectrum, this means that people are able to make calls, send texts and get online in more places than ever before.

Bryn Jones, chief technology officer at Three, said: “Many of our 4G customers will already be enjoying a faster, more reliable experience at no extra cost. Our network processes a huge amount of data and we will continue to work hard on providing them with a service that delivers the reliability and speed that they need.””

Just wondered if it was everyone that had upgraded the Galaxy S5 to the latest Three firmware that had issues with unable to send SMS messages or just me?

Also is there a work around (changing SMS service centre number)?

I don't use SMS much, but it would be nice to have it working properly for people without Whatsapp.

Cheers Mark.

"The rest of the UK, including London, will receive access to higher speeds following completion of the rollout."

I am guessing this is happening in my area tomorrow. I hope I see some improvement.

BTW EE is steady at 90+ mbs at any time of the day.

Surprised London and the south east is last, but might confirm why I've not seen any improvements. Shame it doesn't give a date either.

The south west doesn't even appear to be mentioned. We are probably last. I guess it doesn't matter as there isn't that much 4G here anyway

Atleast the people outside London don't have to moan about London being upgrade first...

It isn't unthinkable that they are telling the truth. EE WiFi calling was originally meant to be activated in a similar way IIRC, but the iOS update near the time sped things up. I presume Three could be sending Apple certain IMEIs to enable VoLTE if they really wanted to.

But this is Three we are talking about, they aren't exactly known for communicating the truth.

A lot of people have been posting on the blog that they have SMS issues, some appear to have got round it with a factory reset.

That's true, but given how long London and surrounding areas have suffered, I am wondering what they're waiting for. I'd recommend many people in London turn off 4G and use 3G only, as it's almost always going to be quicker (latency won't be quite as good, but I don't think it's that bad).

They knew they were getting the remaining spectrum and surely it wasn't hard to set up from a control centre? They can't need to actually go to each site can they? I mean, they knew they had that spectrum when they started rolling out every existing 1800 site!

Sorry if any Three engineers are banging their heads at a wall, but I did assume it would be a case of doing pretty much the whole of the UK in one go.

My 3 sim is out of credit, but my iPhone 6 on EE gets about 45mbps most of the evening. Guess your area has very few EE customers.

I am in a university town and get almost 100 nearly every time, and that's not because the area is quiet but rather that's the cap. I know I could be getting 180 (as that's exactly what an EE engineer) and possibly even higher.
